Default stay away from house of flying daggers

I havent actually seen this film but reading the review it sounds one of the worst blu-rays for picture quality sounds like you might aswell keep your dvd of it.

The review here wasn't much better, so this is definately not a BD purchase for me. A shame really as I'm just starting to get into this genre of movies and would have loved this on BD.

Thx for the heads-up stow! Says it's coming to Blu-ray on December 9...maybe they'll do a review.

yeaaaah, awesome movie!!
I already have the hddvd... I am hesitating for the double dip because I think that PQ should be equal but lossless audio would be so better

House isn't THAT bad. If you like the movie, you will still like the Blu-ray.

The sound (which is 99% of the experience anyway) is great.

No offence, but I actually own this disc and that review is bullsh*t. You're talking about a site that can't even review Hi Def audio properly, even the idiots at Highdefdiscnews can do that.
Most people here can't play it anyway, locked to Region B. This belongs in the Euro Import section...

Having reviewed the BD, the domestic DVD, and the Japanese DVD, which was considered the superior version for the DVD format according to one comparison sight, it would be presumptuous to assume the BD looks the way it does because it is in error as many reviewers have judged, as opposed to it reflecting the desired look of the film, which has a obviously, very stylish visual design. It'd be interesting to see the film re-mastered now that we're in the age of high definition. While I wouldn't rule out improvement, I also wouldn't count on it changing much in the case of House... And, like others have said, the PCM sound is phenomenal.

I thought House looked just fine on Blu-ray. It didn't look jaw-droppingly amazing, which I think accounts for the low marks on review sites. In the age of hi-def, it is being judged against other titles that have better picture quality.

But for the average person, the transfer will be acceptable and shouldn't present any problems with your enjoyment of the film.

i would have to agree it didnt blow me away or anything but in the period that i got the disc it was good. I caught it at walmart during black fri along with resevior dogs for 30 after tax. The sound on the disc made it worth it in my opinion.

I replaced my DVD with the Blu Ray version.

I'm happy with it. (Thought the DVD was good but the Blu Ray is better.)

If they make a better encode... I'll buy it again.

if you like the movie, there's no reason not to buy it. i know many of us like buying movies based on pq alone, but i still happen to buy movies based on the content of the movie.

as a side note, the audio alone is worth the jump from dvd.
