Default can u have an internet connection without?

having or owning a computer, a friend of mine wants to get internet access solely for the purpose of playing online with his PS3? is it possible? thanks for any help

yes, just sign up and they give you a modem and hook that directly into the PS3. If you want wireless then he will have to get a wireless router

He may want to to consider a keyboard for the PS3 . . . router setup (port forwarding, etc.) would be a big hassle if you're using the controller to type everything in. Security setup would be a pain, too. That's assuming he would be using a router, though.

It is possible but I would strongly recommend your friend borrow someone's laptop/computer to at least setup the internet connection the first time you get it.

He shouldn't have to do that if it's wired, only if it is wireless.

ok, thanks he called the internet provider & they told him that in order to set it up for the first time he needs to set it up with a computer, my question now is since i have the same internet provider Yahoo DSL would it mess up in some way or another if i set it up for him, like after im done setting his up MINE should work like normal right, dont want to mess mine up

that's pretty odd. Every place i've ever lived at that had an internet connection it was just plug and play.

the ps3 is a computer, as far as the ISP needs to know. a wired network, from modem to ps3, is a snap to configure with the ps3 controller.
