Default HELP PS3 HDMI Hook-up

I am technically challenged, so I need some help. I finally got a hdmi cable for my ps3 but when I hook it straight into the tv, I get no signal at all. Not even a distortion in the screen. Do I need to download something? Thanks for your help in advance.

You need to connect your cables that you had connected prior (composite or component) and your HDMI cables both at the same time. Then go into your options and change it over to HDMI under display settings. You can then unplug your old cables. Enjoy!

Power down the PS3 (rear power switch), and connect whatever cables you will be using. Once the cables of your choice are connected, hold down the front panel power button, flip the power switch on. There will be an initial beep on start up so wait for the second beep. Once the second beep sounds you can let go of the power button and the system will have completed it's auto detection.

I have a 20gb unit I loan out to friends so this helps when it moves around from one set up to another. Helps not having to worry about what cables were used perviously.
