look into the Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ80U 42" 1080p Plasma HDTV $899 from amazon.com plus you get free shipping and they have a good return policy.

Otherwise you could also look into the Samsung LN40A550 40-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV a great LCD listed on amazon for about $999.

Suggest finding a local store with this so you can go and check it out in person.

Not a lot of positive things have been said around here about Toshiba LCD's. For <$1K, you won't go wrong with the Pany plasma mentioned above.

I was stuck between Pan th42pz80u and Sam ln40a550 for the longest time

and this was when the panasoinc was $1300

I went with the Panasonic with discount it came up to $900 and I could not be any happier with the tv. $900 with free shipping is a steal.

thanks for asking that question. I'm used to a 62" display (dLp) and so I really didn't want to go below 50", but i'll sacrifice a bit of size for quality if it comes down to it.

If your looking that kind of cash($2100) and that size(52-61") I would suggest looking at either of these 3. Don't buy the Toshiba, its good but for the money if you buy off of amazon, you could do better.

Samsung HL61A750 61-Inch 1080p LED Powered DLP HDTV
Samsung LN52A750 52-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV
Panasonic Viera TH-50PZ800U 50-Inch 1080p Plasma HDTV
