Default Official "i Fell For It" Taking Chances On Overseas Imports......

Has anyone taken chances on overseas imported Blu-ray's? I recently bought "THE INCREDIBLES" on Blu from Mylasia, and when it finally arrived, my Blu-ray indicator light didn't even light up to recognize it as an authentic Blu-ray. The sound was Dolby Digital....which was fine.....but the P/Q was awefull........the same as a blurry DVD. Anyone else have similar experiences?

No, but I would never purchase a movie from Mylasia, especially one that has never been released by the parent company, Disney.
They are very strict about their movies and getting this one on Blu... not going to happen.

Demand your money back.

That is the point of this thread....to see if anyone has "fell for it", and their experiences. I thought we could find out if there are some authentic movies available overseas that we don't have yet (other than the U.K) in the same region that we could enjoy........to inform.......not to question.....that is the point here.

I have never imported any movie before but the only one that I would actually take a chance with would be Yes Asia.

I have had experience in china town in NYC where it looks like a blu-ray with the logos and the packaging but it was actually a dvd.

WAY back before any of the Star Wars or Indiana Jones movies were officially released on dvd, I got them all on dvd on Ebay from Malaysia, so you are totally correct even going that far back, like 8-10 years They are still the only versions of the movies on dvd I have.

You're not the only member of your club Mr.Hidef

Mr BigBluBallz had the balls to buy this....

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...hlight=Kingdom

So there's officially two in your club now. You can be president and CEO and BluBallz can be your executive CEO.

It's not that hard to exercise a little common sense people....

If the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.
If it's from an asian country for a title that hasn't been released yet...GEE! I wonder!
$5 Blu-ray? Riiiiiiiight

I've never imported but you should be able to do a search online to see what Blu-ray's have been officially released in all countries. You would have seen Incredibles has NEVER been released in any country on Blu-ray and then would know it was fake.

YesAsia is a legitimate place to import BDs, but I believe they have a San Francisco center for their US customers.

In the end, I think the age-old advice "buyer beware" is always wisdom to live by. And not all imports are bootlegs (or, as I now prefer they be called: Blu-beards), like another poster stated: do your research, see if it has been legitimately been released from where you're ordering from, and only order from a trusted source. There are excellent resources here at Blu-ray.com to get advice and reputable dealers from, just take the time to do a little research and ask the questions.

yeah if you are trying to buy movies that havent even been announced here in the us or abroad 99.9999999% of the time you are going to get screwed. I bought Face/off the uk version and love the PCM instead of the TrueHd track, chances are if you buy a title thats been announced you will have a good experience with it.

Ya, but there's always that 0.0000001% chance!

I bought BBC's Robin Hood: Season One on Blu-ray from SendIt.com, since BBC.co.uk will not ship to the US (at least, that was their policy at the time I ordered this... it's been a while).

Service and pricing were great, and delivery, while a tad poky, was not too terrible. I'd recommend them.

However, I will concur with other posters here that you should Google around to see if a particular movie has had a Blu release overseas or not--and maybe read some reviews on it to see if the transfer quality is even worth your money.
