HELP! my PS3 60GB is not playing PS2 Games - Blu-ray Forum

I have a 60GB PS3 and have had it over a year. I have been playing PS2 games on it so I know it is BC. The last time I played a PS2 game on it was about a month ago and now it won't play them. I can hear the game music, but it will not display the game on my TV. It keeps flashing back and forth from digital 2 to black endlessly. It will still play ps1 games just fine, but all it will do is play sound from a PS2 game. Is there a solution short of formating the hard drive?? I don't want to have to redownload all the games I have and I don't want to delete all the pictures I put on it. Someone please help!

Sounds like an HDMI handshaking issue. Check your cables?

I have tried several different HDMI cabels ranging from monster to a cheapy and nothing seems to work. I can still play the PS2 games via coax cables but not HDMI. PS1 disk based games work via hdmi as well as all ps3 games, blu-rays, dvd's and downloads. It is just strange and I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

What TV do you have? You tried a different HDMI port, different TV?

My mates PS3 plays PS2 games still, even with the recent 2.5 update.

Try deleting your ps2 utility download and redownloading it form the psn store.
