Default My low-cost 7.1 floor speaker solution

I just wanted to pass along my experience with these SDAT LEB404 speakers in my home theater.

Last year I was looking for some low-cost floor-standing speakers to replace the chintzy Sony 7.1 satellite system I had. For some reason I've got it in my head that all speakers should be the same - primarily based on an article I read in Widescreen Review a decade or so ago. I've not had any experience with high-end home speakers either (only high-end theatrical speakers).

So anyway, I was looking for 7 matching floor speakers but whenever I found some in my price range (less than $100/pair) shipping was the deal breaker. Or I could get some locally for a little more but tax was the issue. Then I found these SDAT LEB404 on Overstock.com. The reviews were decent and I ended up buying 4 pair for $82.50 per pair. The best thing was that there was no tax and only $3.00 shipping for the entire order (which I received in 3 days).

I've had these for a year now and I'm really happy with them. Since I received eight total speakers I tried pairing two together as my center channel and I've been really happy with that idea. They are bass-heavy - which is fortunate as my subwoofer bit the dust some months back.

I don't mean to sound like some guy who works for either Overstock or SDAT but it was a good experience and I just wanted to pass along the information.
