Arrow John Carpenter's RIOT

Here's a first look at the first poster for the movie. A description of the movie below.

Originally titled Scared Straight (I’m guessing they couldn’t secure the title rights from the popular documentary 1980 documentary), the prison thriller tells the story of a troubled youth who is sent to the Scared Straight crime-prevention program. But when a riot breaks out and the prisoners take him hostage, a lifer (played by Nicolas Cage) is forced to help the young man out. xXx director Rob Cohen was originally attached to the project when it was set-up at New Line.

Joe Gazzam’s screenplay was on the 2005 Black List, a listing of the best unproduced screenplays of the years compiled from an extensive poll of film executives and high level assistants. Some great talent is involved and this is Carpenter’s first film in nearly a decade.

I'm sure this is gonna be great, but I'm really waiting for the old school Carpenter. The man who wrote, directed and scored low budget films and spun them into gold like Rumple Stiltskin.

Sounds like it has potential. I hope we get the good John Carpenter (Escape from New York, Halloween, The Thing, etc) and not the bad John Carpenter (Escape from L.A., Ghosts of Mars, Village of the Damned, etc). It's amazing how he has made so many fantastic movies, yet he has also made a bunch of turds.

It would've been neat if it was a Con Air prequel with the original cast reprising their roles.

You take that back.

This does look interesting, and I liked his MOH episodes.

I'm really psyched about this, hopefully Kurt will make some kind of appearance, while I didn't care too much for deathproof ... stunman Mike was such a cool character!!

To be fair, even Carpenter's "bad" films are better than a lot of the shite that is released these days...........

It looks like it could be pretty good.

However, I do find the use of "Uncaged 2009" to be cheesy given the headlining actor's name...
