Default Game looks bad 2

Sorry guys I just havent had alot of time here lately.

I tried messing with the settings. I checked 720 and I got a 30 sec countdown. It went back to 480 I guess.

I went back in a couple more times and it said 480 both times and checked it 720. Pressed X to enter got a countdown and when I tried to leave it said if I exited it wouldnt save the setting. So no matter what I did it went back to 480.

Fine I'll try the HDMI cables. Went to Circuit City because they are clearencing things out. They got PS3 HDMI cables for $40 and then they have some others for $60 and $70. But they look different than the ones for the PS3.

I know I dont need expensive ones. They're no better than the cheap ones. And name brand doesnt matter either.

I dont know. All I know is one day the game looked great the next it looks like an N64 game. And nobody messes with my PS3 but me. And I have done nothing to it.

You need a HDMI first and foremost. Second, what game is it?

$40 is too much for HDMI. go to monoprice.com and pick one up for $10 shipped. itll take a few days, but its worth it. have no idea about any of the other stuff tho, good luck!

Component cables do not display any higher than 480p, in order for you to get the picture you want you will need to use a HDMI cable, as everyone has already said. There are some on amazon for a couple of bucks.

Component cables can do up to 1080p in some cases.

I think you are thinking of composite.

And I second or third monoprice.com

Thanks for the link.

The HDMI for the PS3 also had some of those colored cables. What are they for?

Almost all TVs, yes (some old ones to 1080p, before the HDCP days).

Composites only do 480i, and I fart in their general direction!

Yeah I'm gonna have to say no to that. They are anywhere from 480p to 1080p, depending on what you're watching. 1080p component is only reserved to a select amount of HDTVs. I know most Samsungs are capable of 1080p through component. But definitely get a cheap cable from monoprice, HDMI is the only way to go.

brps3,

I will make it very easy for you. Go to this link and buy this HDMI cable:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

Once you have that and have it plugged in if you are still having problems report back and we can help you further fix your configuration.

first and foremost, you got to tell us what type of connection you tried before getting the HDMI, cause it almost sounds like your using the RCA's it comes with. You can't get anything above 480i with that

You're doing this THE WRONG WAY. In order for us to help you, you need to SPECIFY what model TV you have. Better yet, SPECIFY what kinds of video inputs you have on your HDTV. Check your manual instead of poking behind the HDTV. If you don't have the manual, go online and download a copy; manuals always come in handy.

IF you have HDMI inputs on your HDTV, get a HDMI cable from Monoprice like the ones other have linked.

IF you only have Component inputs on your HDTV, use the component cable that you currently have. I assume it looks something like the picture below.

Component can deliver 1080p for games and 1080i for BD movies.

Let us know how it turns up.

not sure how much this post is contributing but i second what everyone else is saying:

1) you should return a $40 or whatever hdmi cable from circuit city and save yourself $30+ and get one from monoprice. an hdmi cable is an hdmi cable, they both transmit the exact same signal. some might be better "insulated" or claim to provide clearer picture, but in the end you're really paying for the brand above all else. in addition, if there even is an extremely extremely minimal (if any) upgrade in PQ is it worth $30+ extra? methinks not, but it's your decision.

2) specify your components and cables so people can help you out. if you just say you have a ps3 it's difficult to pinpoint a problem/solution.

I needed an hdmi for my laptop (it has a hdmi out and a bd drive) I just ordered the 3ft 1.3a one from monoprice.com. It cost a grand total of $5.84 shipped. I am going to put this one on my ps3 and take the 6ft one from the ps3. the 6ft one is also from monoprice and cost a grand total $7.35 shipped. I would highly recommend buying from monoprice as they are very good quality.
