Default Polk Audio

Hey all,
Wanting to upgrade my speakers and sub. Currently have Onkyo Sub and Speakers. Wanting your thoughts on me getting Polk Monitor 40's for fronts & rears and a cs1 or cs2 for center and a psw111 sub. I can get this all for a little over $700.00 from amazon.com and I have a Onkyo 605 A/V Receiver. Wanting to purchase by the end of the month.

Well the common response you might hear is that if you are happy with spending that much on the speakers then I'm sure they will be good. I would def go with the CS2 in that setup it is alot nicer than the CS1 from what I have read. I dont know if you live near a tweeter but you might be able to get the floorstanding speakers for less money on a better model than the 40's. They are having 50% off sale by me and had everything from the RTi series to the Monitors for very inexpensive. But that should be pretty solid setup if you have heard polk before. I also have an Onkyo 605 I bought it off Ecost for 225 and got it in 2 days so I can vouch for there service and reliability.

I would look at 50's for the fronts if you have the room- they're typically cheaper than the 40's + stands. If you already have stands, then sure. It'd be a great setup. *edit* I just took a look at your setup. Be aware that if you want to have the 40's on shelves that they DO have a rear port up high. You have to give that some breathing room to get the best sound. They're also approximately 14" in length so your current shelving will not do.

I personally think the CS1 is fine for the 40's and 50's. That said, I do love my CS2 center.

I've said this in a few other threads, but check out ebay's stores and live.com to get some real steals (with warranties) vs. Amazon. Polkaudiodirect is Polk's store. I've bought from them and a few other sellers on ebay and saved some cash that way.

Again, check out a Circuit City near you as they have the CS2 going for $85 right now as well.

Default Polk of Definitive Technology?

Tweeter is having a sale, 40% off on all Polk Audio, and it's 5 minuets away from me. But I went to bestbuy months ago and heard Definitive Technology Speakers and sub, and they sounded crystal clear, so thinking of getting the Definitive Technology Pro Cinema series too. Don't know. Same price too.

Definitive is a great manufacturer as well. In my opinion if you like both and they're comparable in price, go with the one that looks better to you. If one is a little cheaper, go with that instead. However, if you like one's sound more than the other, should be an obvious choice.

Went to Best Buy after work and checked out the Magnolia Home Theater and I decided to pick up the Definite Technology Pro Cinemas this weekend. Will post picks afterwards. Sound is 10x better, 10x clear, and one of the best sounding systems I have seen/ heard. I even tested out the new Klipsch Systems, and these bad boys sound 10x better than Klipsch. Plus they are 1/4 the size. Haha!!! Plus my wife pissed me off, like usual, so I am definitly going to be picking these up this weekend, I was going to wait, but not anymore.
