Default Would you buy your speakers again?

Think about it...Would you buy your speakers again if you could go back in time? Or would you get something else? If you would not buy the speakers you now own again, let us know which speakers and why.

For my situation, NO. My wife did not want anything that showed. That was the only stipulation.

I now have 6 SpeakerCraft Aim8's and 2 SpeakerCraft 8.2 BAS passive subs in the ceiling where she can't see them and trying to figure out how to add one more.

My power sub, SVS PB-13 Ultra, is stuck under an end table that I redesigned to hide the sub.

Everything sounds fantastic. Would I ever change? No not really.

no...I have polk monitor 50s; the only thing that I don't like about them is the silver front place which sticks out and shows from behind the grill. I want everything straight black. They have another similiar floor standing model that is totally black I've seen in circuit city; I can't remember the item # now.

I would very definately buy the same speakers again...given the same budget!

And should I upgrade speakers down the road, I would definately consider the same brand.

The speakers I have are pleasing to my ears and the build quality and finish are pleasing to my eyes.

Actually I have (maybe) an interesting story. I bought 5 Bayaudio Minicube speakers because I had a chance to audition some other cube speakers at work, and because as a dealer, we got a really, really good deal.
When I got mine however, I kinda hated them. Mostly because they were not even close to being voice matched. I decided to call up the company, and they told me they had been having a quality control issue with their asian manufacturer, what a surprise!
Anyway the good news is, they gave me a free upgrade a few months later when they came out with a whole new line of made in USA speakers that were actually a lot more expensive, so I am pretty happy now.

Someday I hope to own a pair of B&W's, maybe 805's... My wife hates to see the actual front of the speaker without a cloth cover though, so I guess they will have to go in my "man space".

On my new basement setup:
I would buy my Axiom speakers and SVS sub again and again....
Axiom M60 v2 (fronts) / VP150 v2 (center) / QS8 v2 (surrounds) / SVS 20-39PC+ (subwoofer)

On my living room setup:
I would buy again my Athena AS-F2 (fronts) and Athena AS-C1 (center) but they aren't available anymore.

However I would not buy the Polk sub that I had (PSW10 or something like that), it went dead after 1 or 2 years and it rattled all the time. The Klipsch sub (KSW12 ) replacing it, is definitely better, but for that price I could have got much better...

Also I'm not particularly happy with the Polk FXi3, they're not bad but not that great either.

Oh well, anyway the living room setup doesn't see much action anymore so it's all good!

Yep, I would too. Given my budget at the time, I tested many brands at a local store (I live in Lawrence, KS...the home of MartinLogan and you bet I listened to those bad boys, but as I could only afford a fraction of one of their speakers, I went with the KEF iQ series. I really like the way they look and sound. Both incredible! If I did it again, I may buy the larger towers (I got the iQ7s and I would go iQ9s) and maybe use the iQ7s as my rears where I now hav dipoles. I am actually toying with this idea and going 7.1. Now that I say that, I bought a MartinLogan Dynamo sub! It is not very large like the Klipsch one I was looking at, but it is tight and powerful.

I'm in the process of assembling a separate 2-Channel system and Martin Logans are definately in that equation. They are amazing speakers!

No and Yes.

My first speakers ever were Bose AM-10 I beleive (the cube guys with a passibe sub). Those were absolutely terrible from day 1. I got them because I needed something tiny and at the time I didn't know of any other options. I gave them away to my parents a few year ago.

The speakers I currently have are in my sig. and I absolutely love them especially for the price I paid (60% off retail). The sub is alright but if I had it to do over again I might go with something a bit more conservative as I never come anywhere close to using it to its full potential.

I have Paradigm Monitor 7's, ADP-370's and a Mirage FRX-S12 sub. I would like to have been able to afford B&W 800D's for fronts and 805S for surrounds and a Paradigm Seismic 12 for sub.

I'd do it all again - except maybe going with an SVS sub.

The only way I would change anything in my setup, is if my budget were much higher. If that were the case, then yeah who wouldn't?

Details of equipment in the gallery....
