Exclamation Tweeter Going out of Business

I haven't seen any other threads about this, but it looks like it is true.

I saw my local store advertising a liquidation sale yesterday. After checking around some, it appears that their entire chain is being liquiidated.

First Circuit City, now Tweeter. Best Buy will not have much competition left.

Bmmer, although they had closed the one closet to me a couple years ago, there was still one I'd stop in at when I was in teh right part of town.

Sucks. I love Showcase (Tweeter in AZ). I have bought all 3 of my HDTV's from there.

I'm not surprised. That's what happens when you have huge markups on products and competitors down the street are offering them for significantly cheaper.

i'm not surprised either. here in new england tweeter is a joke. the stores are not at ALL setup for easy shopping. they only use about 20% of the total space of the stores. every time i would go there i was always completely ignored unless i told them with my arms waving that my budget was at least $2000 for anything.

for me, they won't be missed.

I didn't even know there was a Tweeter in my area even I've never heard of that company before. There's a Samsung BDP1400 on sale for 142.40 reduced from 499.99. I wish I had the money

they're known as "Sound Advice" in my area, but haven't been to one here in a couple of years... Curious if they're shutting down as well.

Noticed the liquidation signs this weekend as I was leaving the shopping center. I regretted not going in until I remembered how marked-up their prices were. Even on sale, they are usually too expensive.

That sucks.

I called the store by me to see if they had any open box floorstanding speaker deals, and the guy that answered the phone told me he had a pair of open box Monitor 50's for $183 APIECE!!

These same speakers are on sale at Frys for $158/pair!!!!

Tweeter caters to the high end consumer and usually relies on wealthy people coming in and outfitting their entire home theater in one go

Market crash+high end gear+retail expenses=not enough credit and disposible rich people income to keep them afloat. They were in trouble before and this just finished them off

True. That is why I usually only stopped by mine. Checking out stuff before ordering.

You cant survive when you constantly mark everything up in your stores and most times have competitors not even 50' away selling the same product for 15-25% less. They should of went out of business long ago like the tweeter that shut down here a good 4 years ago.

I'll have to stop in and see if there are any deals. They closed the two closest Tweeter's near me so I have to drive to the other side of town.

Dropped by to check out some prices after work/school today. No wonder the place is going out of business, even their sale prices aren't that great.

They had two BD players left when I was there:

Samsung P1500 - $235
Sony S350 - $235

They only had 1 or two left of each, but I sure as hell wasn't buying one.
