Simple question.....

Hello i know almost nothing about blue-ray and this question will prove it........ my dad asked me if a Blue-ray Player will play DVD's?

I tould his i did not know and that i would ask........... so i did

the reason was is it takes about 10-20 min of messing around with our DVD player to get it to work..... keeps saying no disk..... and would rather have a HD movie player with the new(ish) 42" flat-screen HD TV.....

blu ray will play standard DVD's and also upscale them.
