Default Hello all, New here and need help

Hello.

OK, so I went out and bought a nice system. Sony Bravia 1080P tv wide screen, 7.1 1000 watt surround and recently just bought the blu ray to go with it. Its a SONY 1080P output blue ray player.
It seems when I am watching movies, it doesn't seem as clear as it should be, especially in the darker scenes. The movie was 300. ANyone else have this.

Are there special settings i don't know about. My receiver is receiving Digital HD input and blu ray light is all lite up. Also everything is hooked up through HDMI cables.

Thanks in advance, Brian.

Welcome!

Definitely check out the calibration of the TV. My Sony SXRD TV was set to vivid settings, I'm sure they do this for instore to bring out the brightness and colors but it looked like garbage when I was watching DVD/Blu-Rays on those settings.

Also remember that the movie 300 is definitely unique and shows a lot of grain due to the way the movie was filmed.

Good Luck!

The movie 300 is high in grain. Like the first few minutes of Casino Royale. It's an artistic choice the director went with. If you're looking for a really crispy clean picture, try Ratatouille or Wall-E this tuesday. Because they're animated, there's absolutely no grain.

To note, grain isn't bad. It can be upsetting to the untrained eye, though.

HAHAHA. SO yeah, I just came on to ask if it had something to do with the movie 300 because everything else is crystal clear! I thought it was a bad movie. Well i personally stopped watching the movie cause i thought it looked like crap.
