Setting up PS3 to Onkyo TX-S606 Help Please - Blu-ray Forum

Help please,
I just spent the last 4 hours setting up my new Onkyo TX-SR606 A/V receiver and can't get the PS3 to output audio via the HDMI cable. I get video fine.
Menu/Settings/Audio Output Settings/HDMI .... then what
Menu/Settings/BD Disc Settings/ .....then what

so ur getting no audio whatsoever when usin the ps3 ? Or just no "HD audio"

?

I got a 605 , not the 606 but they arent too far off...

No audio at all. Tried BluRay disc (HellBoy2 - supposedly DTS-HD Master Audio) and regular DVD with 5.1 Dolby.
No audio from either, no lights on the 606 showing any format. I tried the tuner just to see if my speakers were working and thay do. Just no audio from the PS3.
Hopefully someone can post all of the settings from the multiple PS3 menu's that will make this work and any necessary from the 606.
I am getting a new HDMI cable today at lunch and will try that as well.

Try going in the sound setting then when you set the PS3 to HDMI select "Automatic." Then go under Video settings then BD Audio and set the HDMI to bitstream and see if this works. If not you may need to set this last one to PCM instead of bitstream.
I have been thinking of getting this same Onkyo and wondered if this would work. There are a lot on here who say the PS3 won't bitstream through HDMI, but the option is there. Let me know if this helped.
Also, how is the video output from this receiver? I have read some reviews that said it wasn't that great and others that said it was really good.

I've got the same receiver and the PCM setting works for me. You will not see the HD audio (Red) on the receiver as the PS3 does the it.

Turned out to be a bad cable (Phillips) from Walmart. Bought a different model and all is well.
