Sony S350 is supposed to have better picture, both on Blu-Ray and upconverting DVD. That and the fact you don't have to deal with a Samsung makes it winner in my book.

Sony all the way. Samsung's firmware support is pathetic.

I love my 350 too! I love my Samsung TV, but I won't be buying another Samsung disc player anytime soon. I had an upconverting player before I bought the 350 and it was the most worthless piece of crap I've ever owned. My blu-ray player loads discs faster than it did....

In reference to your other thread The Sony STR DG 720 will handle the True HD & DTS MA audio from the Sony S350 since that blu-ray player decodes all the HD audio codecs..So you could get the STR DG 720 and have a extra HDMI port if you wanted to ...all up to you

Yes the SonyS350 will decode the HD Audio and send the signal to your STR DG 720 and it will play uncompressed lossless audio

Thats actually excatly why i brought this reciever...no need to spend the extra cash on a receiver that does HD encoding if your going to buy a Blu-Ray player that already Decodes those formats....Plus you will have a extra HDMi port to mess around with and more watts

He is wrong. The S350 does not decode DTS-HDMA, nor will the 720 decode it.

See how it says "No" by DTS-HDMA.

I have the 350 and it has been great. I have two Samsung TV's and have been pleased with them, but my old Samsung upconverting DVD player was junk. Always had trouble with it and it even had trouble with DTS so I could only play Dolby with it. It's because of that player that I didn't even consider a Samsung.

I own it, it doesn't decode, but it will bitstream.

Amazon doesn't say it will decode it.

Never said it would decode it i said it can handle the HD Audio signal as long as you have a Blu-Ray player that can decode the signal..and it says yes next to DTS HD MA so couldnt the S350 decode it through PCM and send the signal to the 720 through HDMI? Because thats exactly wut my PS3 does
