yeah right. I work at Best Buy and dvd's are about 1/10 of the store. And blu-rays are about a tenth of that (8-10 4' sections). Blu rays can't get much bigger, there's not enough titles.

I was at Best Buy this weekended, and for some reason, it looked like maybe they took out a row or two of shelving from their DVDs. I don;t know if it was just me, but I though the amount of space they had reserved for DVDs had shrunk, while the Blu-ray area did expand to one more shelving section.

Last time I was in BB, there was one side of an isle dedicated to Blu-ray, one roll-away display with a bunch of discounted BDs, and 3 end caps. |

Yep. There's a Sony sponsored endcap with an encased PS3, and there's the typical PS3 display in video games. And tons of PS3 hardware (as well as all Xbox models, and even Wii's)

My local BB has a stand-alone '2 for $35' rack in the front, and two full sides of shelf space, and then two end caps, one for new releases and one for music oriented BDs. The area is definitely getting bigger, but my BB seems to 'stock' only the BDs they think will sell. I have noticed a few available titles missing from their selection.
I've also noticed more $19.99 sale prices for select BDs too. Though, their day-to-day prices still hover around $25-30. |

I gotta keep buying them from the stores. I don't want to see the floor space for Blu Ray shrinking.
It was heartbreaking to watch SACD shirk to nothingness. (Maybe the format still lives for classical so perhaps Virgin Megastores still have a section... I don't know.) |
