Picnic (1955) is scheduled to be re-released on Blu-ray by Sony Pictures on Oct 13, 2020.

This one's a must buy for me. Excellent location filming. And so many fine character performances. Especially love Arthur O'Connell, Verna Felton and Susan Strasberg. And Kim Novak's stairway descent and subsequent "Moonglow' dance with Holden fully deserves its legendary reputation. Electricity plus.

Still have to watch this but I have the Eureka version. I do prefer the Sony artwork though. Even over the French release.

It'll probably the same master that's been kicking around since the Twilight Time disc.

Holden is my all time favorite actor, was so close to buying a copy on eBay since I am refusing to watch the pan & scan DVD. Glad I never pulled the trigger.

Then Why was Picnic listed as one of the titles in the new Columbia Collection Volume 2 questionaire? That would suggest it is either planned for one of the future volumes of this series, or, as an individual release!.

I grew up nearby and went to high school (some 30 years later) in the town where much of this was filmed: Nickerson, Kansas. So excited for this release and will double dip on a UHD if it comes out.
