Exclamation I just CANCELLED almost $1,000 worth of blu-ray PRE-Orders from Amazon

Why did I do it? Because I'm SICK of their fake "Pre-Order Low Price Guarantee" They constantly lower the price AS SOON AS the Pre-Orders ship and then don't give the people who pre-ordered the lower price. So you end up getting screwed out of $5 or more on MANY titles.

I told them that under the comments on all the ones I cancelled too. If more people do the same thing......... MAYBE they will get the picture and finally stop CHEATING people who Pre-Order with them.

I'm DONE with Pre-Ordering from Amazon until they get their act together and stop SCAMMING everybody who does. I hope alot of other people do what I'm doing....... it's the only way to make them change.

From now on, I will NOT order a blu-ray until at least the day it comes out and then I will order it from whoever has the lowest. NO MORE will I trust Amazon to apply their supposed "pre-order guaranteed lowest price" because they will NOT do it.

Also, when you call them about it.......... they say "well you pre-ordered over 30 days ago and our policy no longer allows us to adjust the price on an order over 30 days"..........RIDICULOUS!!!

If I ordered it and 2 days ago and it shipped 2 days ago and they lowered the price yesterday, they will adjust it....... BUT if I PRE-Ordered it 45 days ago and it shipped yesterday and I got it today and they lowered the price yesterday just after it shipped, they will not give the lower price because they said you pre-ordered it over 30 days ago. SO I ASK YOU........if that is the case, WHY BOTHER pre-ordering from Amazon?????

It's just not worth it!

Amazon DOES honor their pre-order price guarantee. The problem you're having is that they no longer have their 30 day price guarantee in effect...that's post purchase/ shipment. You're being unfair in saying that they don't honor their pre-order price guarantee when in fact, they do. Sure that was a nice customer satisfaction oriented policy they had, but why you think you're entitled to get lower pricing after you buy something I don't get that. Like I said, it's nice, but they don't OWE you that.

Is this isolated, or has it been a blanket thing? I've received low price guarantee rebates on Wall-E and Hellboy 2, and both of those I preordered months ago.

That said, what is the big deal about pre-ordering, with Amazon or any other retailer? Just not having to hassle with remembering order dates? I think I have three or four standing preorders right now, but the rest of my stuff is on my wishlist, and I just order it a few days before release. That hasn't effected the timeframe of when I get my order, the only (very minor) inconvenience is keeping track of what comes out, and when.

Correct me if Im mistaken, but Amazon doesn't benefit from preordering. They don't charge till they ship, so it doesn't generate revenue. So why not just wait until within 30 days to preorder?

I agree with him. A pre-order is not a purchase. As far as I know Amazon does not charge you until they ship so really there should be no question.

Are they shipping it a couple days before release, charging you, and then dropping the price release day? If so they should give you the price difference up to the release day, and not the actual day they ship. This way you get the pre-order guarantee up until you would have purchased it at a B&M store. If it drops the day after release, then I would say SOL there.

I received an email from Amazon a few days ago, they're giving me $5 store credit because of the Kung Fu Panda price drop issue. This is not a price matching but just a goodwill from them. In my next order I got $5 discount.

So, they know about this, they could be working something out to avoid this from happening again.

Yes that is exactly what they did to me. I was able to get them to refund me the difference though the time it happened to me. I think the policy says (or did before at least) that if the price drops up until the end of release day you should get the release day price even if your item ships before or on release day.

I stopped ordering from amazon.com for other reasons (the bad Canadian dollar exchange rate).

so basically you have changed the way you have been purchasing movies and really didn't have a thing to do with Amazon. You decided its best to wait a couples weeks as the price will decrease as with KFP, Iron Man and Indy at Amazon. You are choosing to wait to view those releases rather than get them right away. It really has nothing to do with Amazon but good luck

Good rant. I enjoyed reading it.

On the whole I like Amazon. But I generally keep a close eye on the prices of the pre-orders. If I notice a Brick and Mortar store with a similar price near the release date, I'll cancel my pre-order last minute.

Same thing with me. I've preordered a lot of stuff way out and never had a problem. They either credit me through my bank account or through my Amazon account.

I don't have a problem with the small price fluctuations when I pre-order from Amazon. What I have a problem with is their slow shipping. I pre-ordered Wall-E a long time ago with standard shipping. Here it is two days after the release date, and still no movie.

If this continues to happen, Best Buy will be getting my business from now on.

I stopped preordering for the most part but I can wait till release date and most of the time I get a good price! Unless I really wanted it and know the resource is shipping early but even still.
