Default Terminator 2 Re-Release

Does anyone have any idea if T2 will ever be re-released the way 5th Element was. With a better audio track or 2? From the reviews I've read, although T2 on blu ray now is the best version of it ever, most people came to the same consensus about the fact that they could still do much more with it.

this must be the 100th time someone has asked if this movie is getting rereleased, but you are a new member so you likely haven't seen the question posed before. on that note, welcome to the forum, and sadly no rerelease has been announced yet. seeing as only a few blurays have been double dipped thus far, i wouldn't expect this one for some time (but i'm sure another version will come out with all the previous special features). my guess is a new set will come out alongside the T4 movie, but who knows.

Considering T2 was released like five different times on DVD, I'm sure they will do another release on Blu eventually.

I'm new member technically, but I follow the forums pretty regularly and I never saw a thread for this, unless it's from a long time back, otherwise I wouldn't be asking. I even looked back a few pages. But like you said, sad no re release announced yet.

yeah you actually are correct, there are barely any specific forums for a T2 rerelease, but its discussed heavily in threads talking about "what movies should be rereleased," "what double dips would you buy" etc. a dedicated thread never hurt anything, and you did good by posting it in the right place (wishlist)

A movie like T2 should simply be released with a Master or HD track. I don't know for sure if more people prefer pq over sq but a good blu ray disc certainly needs both.

On a different subject, has anyone else heard that James Cameron actually prefers the way the full screen format of T2 looks over the original aspect ratio?

In the old laserdisc and VHS days, he used to say that on a NTSC TV, the full screen 4/3 transfert allowed for better experience re the actor's performances and details.

Nowadays, it's a new century and the world of home-cinema have changed, so these old remarks don't apply anymore.

That actually makes more sense. Now that people actually have widescreen tvs they can enjoy movies the way they were meant to be.

If you can't wait, the UK has an updated version which includes an DTS-HD MA track.

That's cool that it's already in the UK. Hopefully that means it will be in the U.S. of A. soon enough. I'd rather wait just to make sure everything is 100% compatible. You never know for sure with all the different kinds of blu rays and players there are. T2 is one of my all time favs. but I've held off on getting it on blu ray until a rerelease the way it should have been in the first place.
