Default Yoji Yamada films

It would be nice to see a box set for say 2009 for Yoji Yamada's Samurai trilogy. TWILIGHT SAMURAI could be one of the best films this decade, THE HIDDEN BLADE is a solid follow up and LOVE and HONOR is also superb. Really hope that by at least 2010 these will be released in the US.

Huge fan as well. I have the trilogy in R2 dvd & would love to have these films in Blu-ray.

The only way we would see this is from Japan where Blu-rays cost around $50.

while I love his movies, for some reason or another, I am not impressed with the transfers from Japan. All of the movies have an amber cast on them and the image is notably soft. Looks more like videotape than digital.

I've only seen The Hidden Blade, which I really enjoyed... if the others are as good then I'd blind buy it -- I love well made Samurai flicks. I just put the other two in my Netflix queue (at least the last one, I had Twilight Samurai in there unknowingly)

While we're dreaming, I'd love to have the (real) Samurai Trilogy on BR too (with Toshiro Mifune)! And for fun, the somewhat preposterous Lone wolf and Cub series (not the Shogun Assassin ones)!

Default Yo

Yo, if you liked the hidden blade then you will love the other two films of this trilogy. Twilight samurai is my favorite of the 3 with love and honor close behind. the hidden blade was also great.
