Default Conan The Barbarian on Blu-ray!

Well now that Bluray is the obvious winner (but who didn't see that coming anyway?) I read somewhere that Universal had plans to release Conan on HD-DVD, but now it's all about Blu-ray, does anybody know if they've announced Conan the Barbarian yet?

I'm sure they will, and it's probably still too soon for official dates, but dammit I can't wait to witniss some Conan ass kicking in high-def!

Conan the Barbarian is a top film.

I've not long read the Robert E Howard novels and they too were amazing, really enjoyed them and its great to learn about all the characters, its just a shame that the Conan movie wasn't more like the novels.

I only discovered this movie a couple months ago.

My cable channels always played the abysmal "Destroyer" movie, which I always assumed was Barbarian, so I never gave it a second though. On recommendation from a friend, I blind-bought the SD version for 6 bucks, and was blown away!

Would KILL to see this on Blu!

Most films with Grace Jones stink, Destroyer being one of them.

And the other REH character Red Sonja was also lame, even without Grace Jones.

Yeah I haven't read any of Robert E. Howard's novels, and I know that the movie isn't canon to his works, but it's still a class movie.

In fact, conan the barbarian is my favourite movie of all time. While it may not be as critically aclaimed, nor the most popular, mainstream etc as some other films, it still sparkled in my eyes, like one of those hidden gems. Loved that movie (and destroyer) as a kid.

what makes this movie my #1 though, is the fantasy atmosphere it presents, through cinematography, location/settings, props, music (ESPECIALLY the music!) etc. I love it

One redeeming point of Destroyer was Sarah Douglas. What a babe.

If you read the novellas, you will find that other than his hair color, the movie is very faithful to the feel of the stories.

I openly LOVE Conan: The Barbarian and will proudly tell anyone.

I secretly enjoy Conan: The Destroyer but usually tell everyone I hate it! it's definitely one of those guilty pleasures. Compared to the first movie, it blows chunks but I like the imagry and there are some pretty funny moments.

The original Conan is a classic. The source material of the sequel (Conan the Destroyer) needs to be destroyed and erased from human memory. We need a new Conan movie in 2009.

My stepfather made the Conan swords. Even though they didnt give him credit in the Destroyer movie, they still used the same swords he made.

I held the Conan sword before Arnold!

How cool am I...

Well, Universal has their work cut out for them if they're to release both Conan movies on Blu-ray with a 1080p image and lossless audio. I've yet to see a decent version of either of them, be it on VHS or DVD. Here is hoping they will restore both movies and give them the treatment they deserve.
