One of Arnold's best for sure! Let's have a Blu-ray box-set with Conan The Barbarian, Conan The Destroyer and Red Sonja.

Easily one of my most anticipated. The DVD transfer still holds up well, but the sound is so tinny on the DVD. Can't wait to see this in HD with a remastered DTS-HD MA track, hopefully in its original two channel mono. And a restored uncut version of Conan the Destroyer would be nice as well.

I would totally buy that.. When you consider some of the crap they are releasing these days a nice Conan Set would be absolutely nice..
Especially since they are coming from Universal.. They haven't released any good catalog titles in a while..

I wish they would make more movies like this, lord of the rings, kingdom of heaven, willow, etc. why do they make so seldom few of such great genres? I mean even historical medieval movies would be awesome look at troy or kingdom of heaven so why do they keep making so many horror films and romantic movies instead?

I believe Marcus Nispel's reboot of Conan is still forthcoming. While I don't have a lot of hope that it will be very good, I'm sure a nice byproduct of it being made would be the release of the first two films on Blu-ray. Hopefully they will get a top notch release, as this is among my most anticipated catalog titles.

The biggest reason is that both horror films and romantic comedies are genres in which budgets can be kept pretty low and therefore, are very profitable for the studios. Outside of the huge tentpoles such as LOTR and Harry Potter, the fantasy/sword and sorcery genre doesn't have as strong of a track record relative to return on investment, IMHO.

Having Conan the barbarian on Bluray would be a dream come true, it's one of the best films of the 80's and one of Arnold's best roles (it's a shame he never returned to the role after the mediocre sequel)

i agree that we will probabaly see this around the time that the remake hits theatres..i don't belive it's the same studio but universal will definetly time a bluray release with the hype around a new film

I remember this was one of the first movies i bought when you couldnt buy movies , I bought it straight from the video store for like over 100 bucks lol.

This movie is in my top ten. The collector?s edition still plays pretty good in my ps3.

The musical score in this film is by far one of the best ever! Right next to Star Wars, Superman, and The Godfather. I loved the audio commentary as well.

Unfortunatly these types of movies have big budgets that don't always return a big profit to studios unlike horror that can be done at much lower cost and will bring in more money. The success of LOTR is not something that happen's for every fantasy movie.

Barbarian was too slow for me, Destroyer is a movie I'd buy day 1 though.

I would love to have this movie. Hopefully, Universal handles it better than some of their other catalog titles.

I would also prefer to have the theatrical version, or at least branch seaming, as I found the extended version just a bit too long.
