Angry Mamma-mia & Wall-e Audio Options

Whatever happened to good old Dolby Digital 5.1?

I can't be the only one who doesn't have a DTS amp?

Mamma-Mia has Dolby Digital (English) yes.. But in 2.0!!!!

Wall-E has DD 5.1 in Dutch, but everything else in various forms of DTS. What F****** use is this!

Both of these titles come from Amazon UK's supplier in Jersey who are obviously importing these tiltes from the Netherlands who have something against DD?

As I can't afford a new DTS amp at the moment I think my future purchases will be from a different supplier in the future. Or I might wait a bit longer each time and just get U.S region-free titles. Surely they still make DD soundtracks on their Blu-Rays.. Don't they?

Most Blu-ray players have DTS decoders built-in so you don't have to worry about the audio. The unit will take the DTS sound and output as PCM.

Seriously speaking, you should stop buying BDs (just rent) for a while and use the money to buy a new receiver with Dolby Digital, DTS, Dolby TrueHD and DTS HDMA. SERIOUSLY.

The Dutch soundtrack is also in DTS. Only the Flemish soundtrack is Dolby Digital 5.1.

That's not correct. It was Disney's choice to release Wall-E with the same master in both the UK and The Netherlands. Suppliers don't have anything to do with it. All Wall-E releases around the world have an English DTS-HD 5.1 soundtrack.

There are US titles that have an English Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack (like most if not all Warner titles) and titles that only have an English DTS(-HD) soundtrack (like all Fox titles).

What kind of blu-ray player do you have?
