Default Just say NO to Mamma Mia!

Ok guys...Twice today (at work)the discussion of weekend movies came up. The guys are all for TDK, and understandably so. However, some of the ladies were making comments like "my husband / boyfriend wants to see TDK, but I am going to convince him to see Mamma Mia!" When I got home today my wife asked me, "hey you want to go see Mamma Mia! tonight?" Had to lay down the law on that. I am seeing TDK and she is seeing TDK. The ladies had Sex and The City week, but they will NOT rule on this weekend. I like Abba and so forth, but not NOW. Time to tighten your belts guys! Don't give in to the temptation or fear!!!

Yeah, fortunately, my wife can't stand Abba and thinks the movie looks stupid. She is totally into seeing Dark Knight though. No Mamma Mia in my future. THANK GOD!

The tracking I read on this was $25/$30 million for Mama Mia. Possibly biggest weekend for total box office ever!

...and so it begins. "I don't want to see that, but my wife/girlfriend does." Who cares? Go see "The Dark Knight" three times this weekend. We all know that there isn't a wife or a girlfriend in your immediate future. Why do we always have to have all of these ridiculous posts? If you don't want to see "Mamma Mia" then don't! Why tell us that you're not going to? Who gives a flying crap?

The only tickets Mamma Mia is gonna make is in theatres where TDK is sold out. I just got back from the theatre a few minutes ago, to put the crowd situation in words: I've never seen it more crowded during a matinee. Plus, when you consider that the theatre had like five screens playing it, with the smallest being the (just under) 300 seat IMAX, then look at Mama Mia, two theatres, with the larger of the two being about 250 seats. I don't think it's really a fair contest, TDK probably made more money today before noon than that will this entire weekend. My guess: $150- 200 million for Dark Knight, $20- 30 million for Mamma Mia.

Umm...wow dude. Your masculinity and testosterone is just oh so overwhelming. All the chicks must want you...especially since you're posting about everyone going to see a superhero movie on a friday night.

Um, speaking as someone who missed Wall-E and Indy:
Sometimes it's better to go see the movie that might not be in the Top 3 next weekend, as long as there's one that you know still probably will be--

In this catastrophically crowded summer, where the Winner Takes It All, the loser will invariably take the fall.

I think Meryl Streep is WAY too old for that role.

Anyway, I predict MM will come in at #4 this weekend, after TDK, Hellboy, and WALL-E.
