Default Oscar Nomination Predictions

I know there have been a couple of these before, but we had a slew of great movies near the end of the year and I think there was a lot of confusion on what was going to get in and what was going to get left out. What was going to be great, what was going to be very good and what was going to be left out.

That being said, I have finalized what I think will be receiving nominations for Best Picture of the Year.

- Milk
- Wall-E
- Frost/Nixon
- The Wrestler (Winner)
- Slumdog Millionare

Thoughts? Other Predictions.

In before TDK fanboys

I think Milk has a strong chance of winning, have yet to see The Wrestler.

It will probably be released here next week, I hope Danny Boyle gets best director for Slumdog though...LOVED that movie so much.

I predict that the Oscars will suck like every year and won't be worth watching or even talking about. Onto the next thread.

A room full of over-paid people, who distance themselves from society (yet think they have the knowledge to run society), patting themselves on their back, wearing $4,000 dresses and suits. Sounds like a great time to me.

I love movies and all, but overpaid actors are the reason why it costs $30 for two people to go to a movie, buy a large drink, and a large popcorn. Ridiculous.

there are some definately questionable things with the academy.

such as the golden compass winning for best sfx over transformers last year.

and certain genres are just automatically snubbed it seems for more serious dramas and crime movies.

but for the most part, they get it right.

Yeah I can see where you are coming from with that, but certain genres are so bad that even if a good one comes out its usually glanced over

mainly the horror genre.

even if you made the funniest movie ever made, the academy wouldn't acknowledge it simply because its a comedy.

horror definately.

just look at the past couple of years. everything is crime, drama or something close.

Lois is already dead. And The Dark Knight should get nominated for: Supporting Actor, Music score, and best directing.

Or do as I do and wait until they come out on Blu-ray or DVD. I went to the theater twice last year.

But its understandable imo, comedy and horror are pretty much dead genres. If its not a Apatow movie it will most likely suck, and all the horrors have been remakes of foreign films.

Video games movies ALWAYS suck and do not look to get any better

Super hero movies are usually cheesy and childlike...but Iron Man and TDK stepped away from that and I think they will get some Noms, but not for best picture.

god, if TDK gets nominated for best picture I will be livid. Wall-E too for that matter.

I think the real interesting race this year will be for Best Supporting. While I don't necessarily agree with it, Heath Ledger will more than likely get nominated and probably win for best supporting. However, there are some great performances that might get overshadowed such as Liev Schreiber in Defiance and Josh Brolin in Milk.

Personally, I'm rooting for Brolin.

Just felt a little too preachy for me. I thought of it as An Inconvenient Truth with and Pixar spin. Although it would fall into this year's Juno/Little Miss Sunshine dark horse where the mass public wants it to win, but has no real chance.

just curious, but if an actor does a great job in their role and happens to get nominated, what is wrong w/that?? who's to say a comic book movie doesn't deserve the same recoginition as a movie like Milk or Frost/Nixon??

im a very conservative person and did not find it preachy.

i mean, how are you going to set up the story if you don't use the basic, underlying plot they used.

only thing i wished they did is maybe set it a little farther out in the future, because i think its ridculous to think humans would destroy the earth that fast.
