New 80gb Ps3 Vs. 40gb Mgs Limited Ed. - Blu-ray Forum

Other Than Hd Size 80v40gb, Are There Any Other Differences Between The Two Models. Would The Mgs 40gb Bundle Use The Newer Smaller Cooler Running Chip And Be As Quiet As The New 80gb??

if i'm not mistaken, the MGS4 40GB is a LE that went wrogn because of it's retail price on release.
it was $599, and because it comes in a gunmetal gray non-matte finish as well as a limited edition copy of MGS4.
i'm pretty certain it comes in the larger older chip, but i could be wrong.

personally, i love metal gear, but i would still buy the 80GB over the special edition metal gear one. if they were such a hot ticket, it would have sold out before the 80GB MGS4 bundle.

a gunmetal gray finish. only upside i see to this is less fingerprints on your console...

neither of these consoles come w/ BC, only 2 USB slots, and no flashcard slots, but i think the kojima bundle, i believe has SACD support... which to me is actually a big plus.

as for the chip, it's 50/50.

that chip was supposed to debut on june 12th along with the new MGS4 bundled systems, but some of them went out in the bigger chip because they just repackaged the motorstorm bundles not sold.

soon as i find out for sure, i will post the evidence of which.

Amazon Has It For 399 Now. Was Just Wondering If The Chipset Was Different From The New 80gb

I ended up buying the MGS limited edition off of Amazon since it dropped to $400. I'm replacing my original 20gig (which still works great. Just want wifi integrated and don't care about BC).

I must say, as much as I like the piano black, the gunmetal is very sharp looking. Plus it is nice knowing they only made around 9000 of them. Only downside, mine was broken. It wouldn't eject any discs. Since it is limited edition I have to send it back, so they can repair and send the same one to me. Not that big of a deal but it does take it out of my hands for another 2 weeks or so.

I think it is a great deal though with the game. If you like it, keep it, otherwise sell it and get the console for ~$350. Slap in a 250gig hard drive for another $60 and you are golden.

No idea about the chip. It sounds about the same as my 20gig which is probably the quietest PS3 made.
