Default email netflix to request this feature

My BD/DVD collection is sometimes bigger than my recall capacity. Sometimes I have to check a text file I keep of my collection so I don't accidentally rent something I own. Netflix should let members easily mark movies as one's they own just as they let them rate them (i.e. have it work just like amazon). Then when you rent something you've marked as one you own, Netflix can prompt you to confirm.

There's no browser plugin that adds this feature is there?

I suppose thats a good idea....

In the meantime instead of a text file why dont u use a site like DVDspot (doesnt exist nemore) to keep track of ur movies. Much easier to search through the list especially if ur lookin for one specific movie.

This site lets u do that with just Blu-rays and tahst what ive been using since DVDspot came down. Don't have anything for DVDs but i never buy and rarely rent them so doesnt matter to me.

Another thing to consider is that with an external site like that u only have to put in ur information once and check back when using amazon/netflix/etc. as opposed to filling in one for each site.

They do have an option to not show rated/seen movies.

Are you talking about one option or two different options? If it's one option, is it rated or seen ....?

Could you tell me more about it and how to access it?

The only workaround I know of is marking it "not interested" which screws up your recommendations of course.

It's one option, and it's available when you are browsing genres.

I have friends like you and its really annoying. I often ask them if they saw a particular movie and they say,"I don't know". How do you not know? And how can you not recall what movie you own. Maybe it's me. I only buy movies I really liked in the theatres. So I'm aware of what I own. I don't buy a mediocre movie just cause it's on sale.

I can recall virtually all movies I've seen if asked, but about 3/4 of my collection is still sitting on the shelf waiting to be seen. I never go to theatres unless it's a real special movie like Dark Knight or one with 3D IMAX. I use metacritic and rottentomatoes to help me decide on blind purchases.

Thnx I see it now. Do they still recommend movies you've seen/rated? I've yet to see one recommended for me on the front page that I've seen/rated yet and I have always had the option checked to "show"

thnx dealsr4,

Which site would you recommend? But if these sites disappear then there goes your list!

I don't have a problem keeping track of movies I've seen or own. Even with my DVD collection that's over 300 I still can recall every single movie.

You could always use DVD Profiler.
http://www.invelos.com/
That way you can have an online and local copy of your collection that you can sync as you add more. I works like a charm and was well worth it for me. Very simple and flexable to use and you can print all types of lists and graphic displays for reference. You can even have it sort for the last type you watched something if you keep it updated.

Perhaps to request a new service with a new fee would work better.

Or you can use Blu-ray.com to keep track of your movies. They have a My Collection feature that works well.
