Wow, Samuel L. must be hard up for money if he's doing stuff like this. Having said that, I love watching the trash he's in because he makes the trash look good.
Update: OK, the trailer was...decent? Might give this a whirl after all. Last edited by Eeeper; 08-03-2015 at 01:59 AM. Reason: Watched trailer |

Picked this up to add to my A24 collection, the cover art is hideous, wish they stuck with one of the original posters.
I heard bad things and I was even going to go to a free screening of this a couple months back but I forgot. Overall, Im about to watch it. |

I just finished it and I'll say it's an okay movie.
It definitely got lost at times and it seemed obvious that Jessica Alba worked on this film for a few days as it seemed like they wanted her as a major role but only got to use her a few times. Overall, it was decent. It reminded me of So Undercover, which was also decent. I like Thomas Mann, he's usually pretty good in everything he's in. But Haliee is not a very actress, esp when she's attempting to cry, no tears when she's supposedly extremely upset, it's a little awkward. Other than that, I'm feeling generous and I'd give this a 3/5 despite its major flawless. The effects are also dreadful as it's always painfully obvious they're standing behind a green screen |

Just re-watched this and 1 minute and 20 seconds of film production logos is a bit much.
It remains a fun teen comedy with a charming Hailee Steinfeld as the lead. I wish we did get a sequel, or that Charlie's Angels sequel with Hailee Steinfeld since she made a cameo at the end of that one. All the Ke$ha references in this movie already seem a bit outdated though. I doubt teenagers will know who she is in 5 years. The movie also filmed some scenes in the same Atlanta high school as The Duff and Love, Simon. It would make an interesting teen movie triple feature. |
