Default Next Tony Hawk won't be played 'with a controller in your hands'

http://www.joystiq.com/2008/12/04/ne...in-your-hands/

Quote:
Though we'll leave the exact placement and nature of the controller for you to figure out, Activision is insistent that the item used to beat the Tony Hawk skateboarding franchise out of it stale stupor won't just be any ol' paddle. "You're not going to be playing this game with a controller in your hands," the company teased at a recent, in-game advertising summit.

We've heard mumblings of a new peripheral before (the new DS game already has a confirmed tilt function), but are no closer to understanding just what the device is and how it works. Our highly educated guess? A giant plastic skateboard. For a skateboarding game. Is that pushing it?
i'll take a controller thanks

It can be fun! Even though I don't skate and rarely enjoy skates games, but I do like interactive games.

I would be so annoyed by the rock band instruments, heck, I'm already annoyed with the guitar hero controller I have to hide, but I definitely want a steering wheel for my racing games. Nothing like 900 degrees of realism in Gran Turismo with nice pedal action, but you do need to have it properly set up to feel just right so I'm patient till I can build a rig.

but plastic controllers like guitars and skateboards? no way.

A big plastic skateboard will kill the franchise for me. How about adding trophies and on-line skate competitions...

This will be worse than donkey kong bongos.

I actually liked that game ... but only played once during a party... The skate controller would be the same for my. Interresting but only during partys. I think you can use the wii fit board to play shaun white snowbording too. I wonder how it feels.

Rented Skate It on the Wii for the last week.

Used the balance board for control.

Definitely something that takes a LOT more getting used to than the controls for THPS.

It could be good, or it could suck hard.

And if they price it like the balance board + Wii Fit...no thanks.

I remeber playing a vr arcade skater game at sixflags.. I guess if the board is made well it could work but thats alot of space, and people could fall on this apparatus and looking at the combined intelligence of people I sense many deaths and fire...

Especially if it's not going to be used with a lot of games. Which I don't see happening.
