Default Tony Hawk: RIDE gets a skateboard peripheral

http://www.joystiq.com/2009/05/15/to...-a-peripheral/

As expected, the new Tony Hawk game was revealed on GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley. Tony Hawk Ride will take advantage of a brand new skateboard peripheral (pictured above) and according to the program will be available on all current generation home consoles: Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360.

Skateboarder Tony Hawk said he's wanted to create a peripheral-based game for quite some time, but technology only allowed Ride to be possible now. When grilled about his skill at the video game, Hawk said that he was quite good at the game and that skateboarders should make the transition to the game easily. Multiple difficulty modes will allow players with even the most inadequate of balancing capabilities to play.

The official website teases another appearance at this year's E3. We promise you that you won't have to wait long to find out more about Tony Hawk Ride.

Me too, I can see how left, right, faster and slower will work but how do you do tricks. Would I be able to flip the board in the air if I want to do a 1080 grabby air thing? I doubt it somehow.

I like unique controllers like this.

I love the fishing controller for my dreamcast and the guitar controllers for my PS3... they are funny and neat.

Eventually though it's going to occur to me and maybe someone else that it's possible to just go skateboarding or play an actual guitar and perhaps even more rewarding as well.

Ever since Project 8 came out, I stopped playing this franchise. This seems interesting. Looking forward to more information. Doubt I'll be buying this though. Hawk's games went so downhill over the years.

they actually started losing me with the whole "underground" series ..
its a shame too cause i remember with all the older hawks 1/2/3 i would sit there for 3 /4 days straight playing nothing else until i unlocked all levels and beat every combo and found all the perfect lines .. then the game became about image instead of substance ...

It looks really fun. I'm too old to try any of those tricks on a real skateboard but I might give this a try. I'll check out the reviews when it hits.
