Here is one person’s opinion from the Wall Street journal regarding the format war.

Not buying either format doesn't prolong the war?
I hate reporters.

I'm sure ignoring the problem will work out just perfectly for the consumer.
I hate when people try to boil things down like that. I'm surprised he didn't
recommend something farcical to decide the matter like Sony & Toshiba
building mecha to fight each other. Actually, that's not a half bad idea.
Dear Sony, please build mecha to fight HD-DVD.

Mossbergs a moron...

He claimes "I tested LG's combo player on my HDTV..." and goes on to say how good it is, except ahem... it can't play menus on HD-DVDs including the menu for scene selection, a small but trivial problem because those menus usually only have the scene number and a picture of the scenes.

I would like to contrast this fan-boi-esque article with a man on the street review just posted today https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=7433

I would even wager that he was comp'ed the player so he could do a "review".
