Yes, its possible. You need a Blu-ray burner {if you are producing gross quanities you may need a duplicator}. Burners start at $500 and duplicators are around $3000. It all depends on you computer, what type do you have?

I'm not positive, but I don't think that would work. It would be more expensive to do switch out . I found a Blu-ray duplicator that had a master and 3 burners, and it was 3000$. A decent Blu-ray burner alone is 600$, so the duplicator would probally be your best bet.

At $20 a blank disc I am not wasting my companies money switiching for a few years, along with $3K for duplicators and $600 for a burner, when a DVD burner goes for $40 new!!! HD and Blu-Ray seem nice in all but i doubt it will be full force in the next 5yrs. Unlike how the TV companies are forcing everyone to HDTV! Now that is bunk!!!

You said you were in video production?

Sorry, but I'm not aware of anyone being forced to go HD. I am aware of the analog/digital cutoff that Congress keeps pushing back, but all that's going to need is for stone age TV's to be dependent on a cable or satellite box, essentially.

Am I missing something?

The FCC is mandating only that all TV's and broadcasters use the newly set digital standards as outlined in ATSC and drop their support for the analog standards as outlined in NTSC. TV's do not have to support HD resolutions such as 720p,1080i, and 1080p.

The upgrade from SD to HD for the consumer is sensical with the cost of buying a new TV.

Production companies make shows for the networks. You don't figure the networks are demanding shows be produced in HD?

Wait a minute. Didn't this originate as a question, by you none the less? So why is it that the question was answered and then all of a sudden this went into a rant?

I'm not sure I understand what you want to achieve. Do you want to transfer your current projects from DVD to Blu-ray so you can store more on one disc? Would you be sending these projects out to other people?

How dare you take the time and answer someones legitimate question. You should have expected a response such as the one you got
