Default Tweeter is rattling during low frequencies

Well, I heard the monitor series had extremely weak tweeters and that they blow easy but I figured since I don't ever blare my sound that I wouldn't have to worry about it. In fact, I rarely ever turn it up past -20dB. Well, today, it just started happening. I noticed that during bass-heavy low frequencies the tweeter in the left tower (right one is fine) rattles a little. Sound still comes out and it doesn't rattle all the time, but it still does it during bass heavy music (towers set to 80Hz). Did I just f**k my tweeter?

You may have to replace your tweeter. Polk sells replacement and upgraded tweeters for their speakers. I recently replaced the tweeters on my vintage (1990-1991) Polk RTA-15TL speakers. There was nothing wrong with the old tweeters. I just wanted to upgrade them with the new silk dome tweeters that Polk had developed. They cost me $100 a pair. Yours will probably cost a lot less. However, if you decide to replace the tweeters, join the Club Polk first. You will get a big discount if you are a member. Membership is like membership to Blu-ray.com. Replacing a tweeter is very easy. It took me half an hour. The only tool you need is a screw driver.

You just purchased them, so they are still under warranty. Call Polk, their service is first rate.

Better safe then sorry I suppose. I'll give Polk a call to get it replaced after I spend a couple days breaking in the sub that's coming today.
