Invalid list.

House of the Dead was a comedy.

At least it was when I watched it and ruptured my liver laughing so hard.

Out of the 3 I've actually seen, House of the Dead, Cursed and Halloween 3 I'd have agree. But, I didn't think Cursed was supposed to be scary, I always thought of it as more of a comedy/horror. I would have added the remakes of When A Stranger Calls and Black Christmas to that list as neither were no where near as chilling and suspenseful as the originals were. Isn't Plan 9 From Outer Space supposed to be the worst movie ever made. At least according to Seinfield.

Halloween 3 was actually supposed to be Carpenter's anthology tribute to Nigel Kneale, of "Quatermass & the Pit"/"Five Million Years to Earth" fame--
Until Carpenter handed direction to Tommy Lee Wallace, who made such a wretched mess out of Nigel's original "Stonehenge curse" script--dumbing it down and trying to turn it back into a conventional "slasher film" with drill-wielding robots--that Kneale took his name off the credits.

If, like Yahoo!'s undiscerning cheap-gagmongers, you're looking for a conventional Michael Myers movie, this ain't it.
If, however, you're suitably Hammer-educated enough to know "Five Million" and-or a Quatermass movie when you see one...it's still not completely good, but at least you're one step ahead of most of the audiences at the time. It's all about film literacy.

("Not surprisingly, the knife-wielding maniac returned in #4"--
Not surprisingly, #'s 4-6 were cheap T3-style cash-in imitations after Compass Pictures went bankrupt, and Dimension pictures bought out the franchise name...#3 was the last true Carpenter-touched version.)

Film literacy also allows us to recognize that "Thinner" was directed by THE Tom Holland, of "Fright Night" and "Child's Play 1" immortal coolness--
The 80's never produced a better horror genius, and a little of it still showed.

Concerning that list, I think Pulse IS scary. At least when I saw it.

Check this out guys. And do it with your lights off and volume up... it's real quick. Let me know if it scares you or not.

The Exorcist. Shocking, yes. Gross, yes. Scary? Just the attic . . . which was done better in The Gate.

I agree with:

Halloween 3
The Happening
Pulse
Wicker Man

The others I haven't seen, or they are so bad that I consider them comedies.

Event Horizon was the only movie I've ever saw that scared me, but that was just the first time I saw it in the theater.
