Default The Best Overall Horror Movie Franchise??

Ok this is a lil different then voting best horror film. I listed movies with atleast 3 entries (remakes included) and only modern day films franchise. U have to vote based on every movie in the series in order to form which one is the best. So for example just because the Exorcist may be your fav movie of all time, if u dont like the sequels then u may not want to vote for the Exorcist films as the best overall Franchise of films. Make sure u weigh all the films in the series before u choose the best one. Let the great ones weigh in with the weak ones in the series then come up with a decision. Also list the worst franchise listed and even a couple of your favorites also. For me its easy:

Best: Friday the 13th Franchise

Favorites: Halloween & Phantasm Franchises

Cant point a worst but I didnt care to much for "A Nightmare on Elm Street" Got Em!!

Pretty good idea for a thread, even though it's not Halloween time

Unfortunately, I'm one of those ppl that only likes the first in many of the horror series'.

Exactly. I know the 3rd and 4th films were weaker than the first two, but the first two are so good that this series still trumps any other one out there.

I voted for Alien because the first two are so good that it offsets the latter two. There is no other series, at least to me, that has two films as good as that one!

Evil Dead.

The only series that constantly delivers exactly what it tells you it will.

Alien franchise is automatically disqualified not only because the last 2 movies sucked, but because the 2nd one isn't even a horror movie, it's a sci-fi action movie.

I figured your choice would come between these franchises:

Alien
The Exorcist
Jaws
The Omen
Psycho

I know not every single film in the franchise will be great but Im sure u could pick the best one if u had to compare the ones u liked. Got Em!!

me too, especially when the creator of the first movie isn't on board and points out that going beyond part 1 makes no sense (Halloween, Friday the 13th)

Halloween I can somewhat understand as u could have just ended and we would all still know Michael Myers. But Friday the 13th doesnt get started until part 2. Yes part 1 is the OG and the setup for the series but if it didnt go any further than part 1 then Jason wouldnt even exist! And where would we be without the great Jason Voorhees character?? I would be lost! Hahaha! Cunningham is way off on that one man! Got Em!!

Hmm this is difficult!

I love Freddy Krueger, the 1st Nightmare was awesome, and some of the follow ups were decent, although part 6 was total garbage! I did like Wes Craven's Nightmare though.

Friday the 13th is cool aswell, although I haven't seen all of them..

So far I've seen all 3 Final Destination parts, except for part 4. Part 1 one was really cool, I didn't care much for 2 and 3.

Now the SAW series are awesome, I can't get enough of them, but I didn't really like part 5! Although I really liked part 1-4.

So I guess my vote goes to the SAW series.

Halloween and Alien are tied? I wonder how many people are aware that only the first movie in the Alien franchise is really a horror film. Not to mention the later Halloween movies are more comedic than terrifying.
