This year has been an exciting year for gamers. We've been treated to games such as Grand Theft Auto IV, Metal Gear Solid, Fallout 3, Dead Space, Gears of War 2, Call of Duty: World at War, Little Big Planet, Resistance 2 and a few others. Now that the VGA's are coming up this weekend, which game would you choose as game of the year? My choice is probably between Solid Snake (amazing game that shows off what the PS3 can do) and Marcus Fenix (this game is currently ruining my relationship lol) So what do you guys think?
PS. I tried to set up a poll, but was unsuccessful. |

Well
Id probably have to go with MGS4. Best graphics to date, best MG game to date (IMO), great game overall. Im a HUGE GTA fan, but the more I think about it, the more GTA4 really was overhyped. I know GTA4 was missing "something", it just wasnt as much fun as San Andreas. Saints row 2 was WAY more enjoyable. Prince of Persia is fun, but definitely not GOTY good, same with Dead Space.. Havent tried fallout. R2 WAS my choice for GOTY before I knew they took out coop story mode (and not to mention they really screwed up the splitscreen overall). So MGS4 with runner up being R2 |

MGS4.
GTA4 was a steaming pile of unfun, LBP could be a contender, Gears 2 didn't have the same impact as Gears 1. |

I concur. GTA4 had some good things, but overall, it was just a major disappointment. It just didn't have the loonacy of the previous games. Where was the flamethrower? The jetpack? Blowing peoples heads off? Sure, the games were broken technical wise, but they just made you feel happy. For me, The only game I have thats really game of the year worthy right now is MGS4. Probably LittleBigPlanet, but I don't have that yet.

I'm going to go a little more indepth:
Best Action Game: Metal Gear Solid 4 --unrivaled action. incredible game play. pulse-driving game. Best First-Person Shooter: Resistance 2 --for the most part they improved on the first one, which was a major hit. Best Puzzle Game: PixelJunk Eden --don't know if most would classify this as a puzzle game, but i did. originally i had echochrome on there, but i bumped it off for eden. Best Graphics Technology: Metal Gear Solid 4 --no question here. just like uncharted, MGS4 set the bar for the next games. hopefully, killzone 2 will reset that bar. Best Artistic Design: Prince of Persia --i haven't actually played this game (yet) but from what ive seen, and what ive heard, the art is just fantastic. a unique game experience! Best Story: Metal Gear Solid 4 --i still am scratching my head at its complexity. more twists and turns than a mountain side road named after m. night. shyamalan Most Innovative Design: LittleBigPlanet --this game created a new category for video games. no question it gets this one. Best RPG: Valkyria Chronicles --in a year where RPG's were scarce, this title is actually deserving. Best Developer: Media Molecule --although they only developed one major game this year (from my knowledge), it was a doozy. this developer has the attention of the world for LBP; hopefully they can produce again. Biggest Surprise: LittleBigPlanet --OK, so maybe it wasn't a surprise, but it is an original title, that most people not game savvy where probably surprised with. Best PSN Game: WipEout HD --stunning visuals rooted in the classic gameplay of the series garners this game this award. Best Online Game: LittleBigPlanet --think about it, you couldn't slap your friends in an online game until LBP came around. that alone is deserving of this title Game of the Year: Metal Gear Solid 4 -- ![]() |

I like that you have all Playstation games as winners,
![]() I think Gears 2 and Metal Gear 4 are the top dogs on GOTY and I wouldn't be suprised which one would win. Both games look spectacular and both have dead on physics. Can't wait to watch the VGA's, especially for the God of War 3 trailer. |
