Default How is my setup?

Well, this will hopefully be my setup.
Front
Rear
Centre
Sub
This will cost me £2000, or in Dollars about $3000. Is that a good setup for the price? Any fellow Brits know of a cheaper place to buy said items?

He's got it- just marked it as surround for some reason.

Anyway, I can say with experience it's going to sound great, since it's what I'm using. I'm kind of surprised it costs that much since I paid about about $600 without the subwoofer (a little less than that, actually). If you have that kind of budget, you may want to look into other options, such as internet-direct sellers where you can get more bang for that buck. If I had a $3k budget I'd be blowing it out on something higher end.

Gah, I did link to a sub, but for some reason I shorted the link to read surround. But that tells me you didn't click the links to check, or you'd know that. And yes, it is somewhat high budget, but if an old setup like this will cost me that much, a better setup would no doubt be more.

This is why I asked if anyone has any links to the setup, but for a deal cheaper.

Well, I'm not sure if polkdirect sells on ebay to other countries, but try that. Also look into eD as I have read somewhere that they sell in other countries. This is the second time I've seen that we need links for sales items in other countries to refer people to... unfortunately being in the US I don't really know much of what's out there.

For that price though, I'd recommend to shop around a little more. The Polks are great speakers, but I wouldn't call them $3000 speakers.

So, should I be looking out for a lower set of speakers? I've looked and I can't find them anywhere for cheaper than my current price. Short of importing them from the USA, I've no hope.
But even that will be costly, what with over seas shipping and customs. Gah. All the effort put into working out a good setup, and finding out its £1000 over my budget.

See how much it would cost to do overseas and go through customs. It may be worth it. You can get the Monitor 60's for $100 each here.

Bloody joke that. Guess i'l have to look into it now. A real pain, I've got to resort to ordering over seas to SAVE money. Figured it'd cost more.
No such luck at all Amazon.com won't ship due to warranty issues, etc.

Do you know anyone who lives here that you could have your stuff sent to and then shipped overseas?

Wow..... so it turns out there's a pretty big price differential after all. Have you looked at those UK brands like B&W?

Okay, I don't know who copied off of who, but B&W and Monitor have identical websites.

Yea you really need to find somewhere cheaper to get speakers. All that gear is worth about $800, not $3000. If you have that much money to throw away... send me some, I need a new center channel speaker, and some rear surrounds... : )

I live in the US and I have also been looking for similar setup, with a onkyo 606 and polk speakers.
A CS2 center, monitor 60 towers, and moitor 40 rears.
I have read Drivers King recommended setup, and I really like aramis109's setup.

Amazon has a deal were if you buy 499 in polk speakers they give you the sub a PSW10 for free.

Is this a good deal?

It would be a good deal but you can get Polk speakers here significantly cheaper than any retail store online or in stores.

Agreed. Granted, I'm in the states, but I just paid right under 1500 USD for 2 Monitor 70s, 2 Monitor 30s, 1 CS2, the ed A2-300, the Yamaha RX-V663BL, two speaker stands (for the Monitor 30s), and all of the wiring I'll be needing, including for sub, speakers, and an extra HDMI for the HD Audio. Surely amazon.co.uk has the stuff you're needing for cheaper than the price your quoting.

Thanks. Gotta go with DK here though- buy them separate elsewhere and maybe get a different sub than Polk with the savings. You'll be happier in the long run.

Auto- hopefully you can find something that'd be more worth that money spent. We're not trying to steer you wrong- obviously if I didn't like my speakers I wouldn't keep them... but I sure as hell wouldn't pay $3000 for them!

See how much it would cost to have them shipped overseas and to go through customs, give us the price, and we'll see what we can come up with. If buying other speakers would be more logical if there is still a huge price issue, then so be it.

I did look at overseas shipping, but amazon.com won't do it for some reason. I don't know where else I can check to find out costs now. I'l see if the Polk Ebay page can tell me, and if they will ship overseas. Even the Sub is over priced, the USA sites is half the Uk's price.
I may need to begin looking for a similar quality set, but cheaper. also a silly question, but will the speakers being US and my Receiver being UK (I realised I can't import that, different plugs) cause a problem?

Oh and has anyone bought refurbished speakers from polk? How bad were the "blemishes" they mention? I won't mind them too much, so long as they sound good, but I don't fancy staring at a big scratch down the side of them, when I'm trying to enjoy my film!
