I purchased an HDMI switch (w/optics) and am running into a problem with my XBox 360. I have the audio going through the switch via optic cable and the video going directly to the t.v. with comp. (until 360 Elite comes out then it will go through HDMI also). Every 10 minutes or so the audio will snap or crack and then be silent for a split second and then go back to normal for another 10 minutes or so. What could/is causing this? Any help will be appreciated. The problem doesn't seem to be happening through my HDTV DirecTv or my PS3 both are going through HDMI and optics.

You need to connect the Xbox up directly to the receiver in order to determine what the problem is. Things to try

Sounds like you have the octavia unit, correct?
I got one as well... I think the auto switching is triggered by the HDMI connection, NOT the optical one (it does kind of make since to do it this way, so they can use the same switching circuitry as the rest of their line) When you have it set to the 360, it is probably freaking out because it is "seeing" you select a dead channel (no video) while the direct TV is "hot" all the time... Could be some sort of scanning issue. I have a non-HDMI DVD recorder hooked up, but I was afraid of some such issues, so I connected it directly to the receiver and the TV as a stand-alone, and only have the DirecTv, the upsampling DVD, and the PS3 routed through the switch on HDMI and optic. |

Figured it out-I believe it's the cable. The first one I was using was a cheap one and the new one I got isn't monster-but a mid-level one and it has gone a long time without doing it. Also-I checked my email today and their tech support got back with me and said the shielding on some cables causes the problem. Thanks again.
