Unhappy Stargate Blu-Ray

Does this blu-ray Disc look grainy to anyone? Im using a Sharp Aquos 1080p 42in screen and a Lite-On Blu-Ray drive. I tried watching it and I just kept getting annoyed at how grainy it looked. Also I'm playing it on WinDVD 9. I tried adjusting the image but the program doesnt let me for some reason. I havent been using it long.

Thats cool! I thought it was only me.. those images look just like mine. Is there a reason why some Blu-Rays have more grain than others?

The age of the film, the type of film that was used for production.

Some studios use DNR to reduce the amount of grain on their discs, but with this there is some loss in the fine detail of the image.

It could also be the settings of your television. Check out similar television in the calibration forum to get an idea of how other members are setting up their tv's.

I have to agree with you on that one. One of the more poorer looking Blu Rays IMO.

Very similiar to T2 and Total Recall.

Thanks

T2 and TR come from the later DNR fest DVD version Master that have been ported to Blu-ray. Want to see how TR should look, import the EU version.

Yes the film has some grain. Some places more than others for instance in lower lighting conditions. It is not surprising, but is not that bad at least on my 50" Pioneer Kuro Elite PRO-111FD.

One of my friend bought it last summer, we also found that it was grainy at places but it still not bad.

Hi, not sure if this is the proper thread for it or not, but can you explain what you said...."pretend" I have no idea what you mean.

Are you saying the Master DVD's were excessively messed around with and those were taken to the Blu Ray?
Why was the EU TR not like this?

Thanks!
