When you spend $150 bucks on your HDMI Monster Cable alone and an extra G for the 1080p.. these little things matter.

Dude, you might want to edit the cable part. (see monoprice.com)

I have no shame in my game.. no snukes in my snizz. I'm well aware that the Internet has better prices than Best Buy.. I'm been shopping online since Prodigy.. but one thing the Internet doesn't have is 2 year interest-free financing

Tell me about it. My Electra Glide cables list for $7000 each (not that I paid even 20% of that) and use solid silver conductors...little things do matter, especially when they all work together to give you a big thing like audio or video.

Attention to all the little things add up to a big difference. And once you enter the realm of HD you better get over expensive prices right off the bat.

Expensive prices are one thing, but spending $150 for a cable that does no better than a $25 cable is not "getting over" anything.

Bah. Not arguing over the price of a cable. I just think if your spending thousands and thousands on a home entertainment center.. why skimp out on the little shit that make small differences.

Hey, I was in the same boat. When I bought my Plasma, I paid $125 for the Monster cable. I thank AVSforum especially for showing me that it's a complete ripoff. I now buy all my HDMI cables for $25.

never paid more than 10 bucks for my hdmi cables..
Lucky to live next to a guy that operates online cable shop...
pchcables.com High quality cables at good price.

Digital HDMI cables are just that... Unless running over hundreds of feet, absolutely no difference in picture quality..
And yes, I did invest thousands and thousands in my AV systems and use 9 dollar hdmi cable and I'm proud of it...

Monster cable people belong in jail..

???.. stfu. I'd still to this day go out and buy the same cable. Go to Monster's website. ALL cables are NOT created equally. If you think they are your insane.

I have no clue how this thread became focused around cables. The topic was frames per second. Maybe people worried so much about how much I spent on my HDMI cables should go out and find a new job.. one that doesn't make $150 seem like a thousand. Broke ass...

That is a bit harsh. However, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

By the way.... Who do you know that runs HDMI cables for hundreds of feet?

I know I'm brand new here, but I have been working in consumer electronics retail for a good 7 years now... so I guess I'm introducing myself.

I really had to reply to this one, though. HDMI is a Digital format. The quality of the cable really won't effect the quality of your sound or picture due to that fact. Most home theater enthusiasts are so used to analog formats they really can't understand this concept. With an analog signal, the cable makes all the difference in the world, but this is digital, the quality can't be effected. Think of USB... do you go buy a $100 USB cable in order to get better connectivity with it, or do you use the free/$15 dollar USB cable because it does the same thing? Same concept.

Just a quick note about cables... I'm in the industry and with audio cables, the more silver content, the more detail, with Video cables like HDMI, you will not see a difference from one to another unless you go with fiber optic HDMI and that's for longer distances of 50' running 1080p. Most cable differences that companies talk about is pure marketing. Beyond that, people see what they want to see. Take any two cables to a techie and ask him to test and measurea cheap cable to one 3 times as much. They'll be identical. Monster was brilliant in it's marketing years ago, like Bose but that's what it is... marketing. Unless you have a ton of loose electrical interferance, thick sheilding is just more rubber and plastic.

Nordost audio wire for example, has many different SKU's and the more pricey the cables get, is determined by how much silver is in the wire but you CAN hear a difference with their wire. Video is a different animal.

You should consider doing some more research then (if you actually make a living selling CE stuff). There is a thing called jitter, it is a very real problem of digital audio and it has been observed by many that a better cable can make a difference. You can't hear one? Fine, but don't go claiming it doesn't matter if you don't have the facts.

You say to go on Monster's website. And they convince you that there cables are better! OF COURSE THEIR WEBSITE WILL SAY THAT! They would never tell you that the most expensive is the same as the cheap one. Go to an independent website and do some research, then you'll get the truth. It's like going on Boses' website to see if they make the best speakers, or going to Dodge's website to see if they make the best cars!

True, the cable length is a major factor wether a pricey cable is necessary or not and maybe video is different. I just couldn't agree with a blanket statement that digital is perfect from end to end no matter what.

At this point I don't even know what the original thread was about.. oh yes, FPS.

Thank you to everyone so concerned about where my money goes. I do appreciate it. Till then I'll try and stay out of jail for purchasing over priced products.
