I have no clue how this thread became focused around cables. The topic was frames per second. Maybe people worried so much about how much I spent on my HDMI cables should go out and find a new job.. one that doesn't make $150 seem like a thousand. Broke ass...
Ah, I slightly remember what it was like to be 20 and thought that I knew everything.

Nice use of stfu, maybe you should try grammar check on your posts also.

pchcables.com High quality cables at good price.

Digital HDMI cables are just that... Unless running over hundreds of feet, absolutely no difference in picture quality..
And yes, I did invest thousands and thousands in my AV systems and use 9 dollar hdmi cable and I'm proud of it...

Monster cable people belong in jail..
That is a bit harsh. However, I guess everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

By the way.... Who do you know that runs HDMI cables for hundreds of feet?

I know I'm brand new here, but I have been working in consumer electronics retail for a good 7 years now... so I guess I'm introducing myself.

I really had to reply to this one, though. HDMI is a Digital format. The quality of the cable really won't effect the quality of your sound or picture due to that fact. Most home theater enthusiasts are so used to analog formats they really can't understand this concept. With an analog signal, the cable makes all the difference in the world, but this is digital, the quality can't be effected. Think of USB... do you go buy a $100 USB cable in order to get better connectivity with it, or do you use the free/$15 dollar USB cable because it does the same thing? Same concept.

You should consider doing some more research then (if you actually make a living selling CE stuff). There is a thing called jitter, it is a very real problem of digital audio and it has been observed by many that a better cable can make a difference. You can't hear one? Fine, but don't go claiming it doesn't matter if you don't have the facts.

Yes, I know about jitter and I understand what you are saying, but the cables still top out. Sure, if you want longer lengths and want to avoid attenuation you want a higher quality cable. For shorter lengths and average use, however, the cables can only get so good. Sure, I would spend a few bucks on a high quality cable (such as monster) but I would not spend the extra cash on say monster M series cables... that is just rediculousness. And yes, I understand jitter and I also understand that if you have decent cables jitter will still occur but jitter correction is mostly going to occur at the devices and not at the cable. And thus the theory of your entire system only being good as your weakest link. If you don't have a jitter buffer (or a de-jitter buffer) you are going to have more problems... The cable can only prevent additional jitter from occurring. If the cable being purchased is manufactured under any decent level of quality control you shouldn't have too much trouble with the cable causing jitter that cannot be corrected.

So to rephrase in order to make this a more friendly statement: Cables only get so good. After a certain point, the cable is not going to increase sound quality. So, yes, go and buy a decent brand and a decent cable, but "top-of-the-line" HDMI cables are nothing more than clever marketing.

Just a quick note about cables... I'm in the industry and with audio cables, the more silver content, the more detail, with Video cables like HDMI, you will not see a difference from one to another unless you go with fiber optic HDMI and that's for longer distances of 50' running 1080p. Most cable differences that companies talk about is pure marketing. Beyond that, people see what they want to see. Take any two cables to a techie and ask him to test and measurea cheap cable to one 3 times as much. They'll be identical. Monster was brilliant in it's marketing years ago, like Bose but that's what it is... marketing. Unless you have a ton of loose electrical interferance, thick sheilding is just more rubber and plastic.

Nordost audio wire for example, has many different SKU's and the more pricey the cables get, is determined by how much silver is in the wire but you CAN hear a difference with their wire. Video is a different animal.

You say to go on Monster's website. And they convince you that there cables are better! OF COURSE THEIR WEBSITE WILL SAY THAT! They would never tell you that the most expensive is the same as the cheap one. Go to an independent website and do some research, then you'll get the truth. It's like going on Boses' website to see if they make the best speakers, or going to Dodge's website to see if they make the best cars!

True, the cable length is a major factor wether a pricey cable is necessary or not and maybe video is different. I just couldn't agree with a blanket statement that digital is perfect from end to end no matter what.
