It is being distributed by Alliance (same distributors for Elm St, Sin City, From Dusk till Dawn, and the upcoming 2009 release of Freddy vs Jason) Alliance have been producing spectacular quality barebone BDs with DTS-HD MA soundtracks.
You can get PT and DP for $22.95 each. Streetdate is 23 Dec 08 http://www.amazon.ca/Grindhouse-Pres..._bxgy_d_text_b |

I really don't like Alliance not bring movies out day and date with the U.S. It really annoyed me waiting a month and a half to get the Kill Bills and now, a few weeks extra to get Planet Terror. I hope this doesn't become standard.

But Alliance is releasing stuff that isn't even available in the U.S. so it's not so bad.

States in their ads (in German however) "with fake trailers" and the runtime of 190 mins. Grindhouse already has a handful of US theatrical cut releases in the UK, Germany & Japan either out now or coming soon. All are DVDs though until this new blu steelbook comes.

That's cool but I don't want to wait for releases. It was awesome to get Sin City but I'm just hoping that releases that are coming out in both Canada and the U.S come out on the same day.

I love how when Grindhouse came out first in the US, we all got to see the full double feature and everyone else in the world had to see them as 2 seperate movies.
Now everyone else in the world is getting the Grindhouse double feature DVD/BD and the US is getting the shaft. |

I loved Grindhouse.
I loved that Planet Terror had a "missing reel" where the film jumped 20-30 minutes ahead in time and apparently all kinds of batshit stuff had gone down in the meantime - you never got a hint of what exactly transpired but you knew it was all kinds of mahem and plot development. I've actually experienced that (Parkway Theater, Oakland CA 1999 during a showing of Forbidden Planet) and that little touch really took me back! But I was very disappointed to get the DVD and find that the "missing reel" was not included as an extra feature or deleted scene. Now I'm thinking they just didn't bother to write that 20-30 minutes. Come on, don't you think people would have bought a "special edition" DVD set with the missing reel scenes included? I do. If it's not in the can already it will never be shot... too many high paid, high quality stars who would have to be re-assembled from whatever projects they are currently working on. Very sad they didn't do this for us. |

Tarantino, however, took your approach, and shot the missing reel, which was reinserted into the Extended Cut. |

I deliberately abstained from buying either PLANET TERROR or DEATH PROOF because I assume a studio will eventually release the complete cut of GRINDHOUSE on Blu...Double, triple, and quadruple dipping by the studios is obviously the norm anymore-so I'm waiting for the whole package. Saw it twice in the theater and it's fantastic....
