OK I mainly am putting this up because I'm disturbed by something, call this just blowing off ok
![]() I hear so many people saying the the first one was awesome, (AND I agree) however they keep saying that the sequals are bombs. WHY in the heck do they say this. I personally (opinion) thought the second was the best. I keep[ hearing that the last 2 shouldn't even been made. They are all great movies. I can't wait to get the collection and the 10th ann one as well. YES I'm a huge matrix lovin freak. I just don't understand why people diss the sequals so bad. The wachowski bro's even invented stuff to film them, that was never even thought of before, like the super burly brawl scene, the contraption that was used to hold Neo, and smith was invented just for the film. So how can the sequals be bad. Matrix in it's time BREAK the box office records ALL 3 of them. |

I liked all three. I do like the first the best, as I feel it was the most cohesive and specific story. The other two were more...epic in scope, I guess you could say. Whereas the first was epic in execution. Either way, the three together make for a decent trilogy.

I like all three, but the first was the only one that was really like, "Holy ****, this is something totally new and unexpected." The other two have some borderline comical moments in how serious they take themselves, but I still find them entertaining. They just didn't bring anything significantly new to the table.
BTW . . . I have family in Shamokin Dam. Small world, that's a pretty small place. |

I said "compared to the first one".
Everyone liked the original Batman (1989) but compared to The Dark Knight (In mine and what looks to be, most of the public's, opinion) it's not as good. It's still a good movie though. ...great now someone is going to reply asking how I can call Batman a bad movie... |

I think the inherent problem with parts 2 and 3 was that every problem could have been solved by Neo's near-omnipotence instead of the big fight/chase sequences.
It was a lot of flash without the narrative it desperately needed to hold it together. There are a few fanedits out there which meld the 2 sequels into one tighter, more satifying film. |

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. You say you like all 3 and the second was your favorite, well, in my opinion the first one was just ok and the other 2 were complete crap. I do not see myself ever owning anything by the Wachowski brothers as I think Speed Racer and V for Vendetta were also crap. But that is my opinion and just what I thought of the movies. Respect that as I respect your right to enjoy them.

I think people that say the 2nd and 3rd are bombs should stop watching movies-all together. They are simply INCORRECT, or perhaps, the way they state their opinions is incorrect. And yes, you can state your opinion incorrectly. Let's get some syntax correct here. Incorrect statement: "The Matrix Reloaded and the Matrix Revolutions bombed" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0242653/ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0234215/ Fact: These movies did not bomb. They are superb movies with mid-high ratings. Correct Statement: "These are great movies, but I liked the first one the best" or "The Reloaded and Revolutions were not good movies IN MY OPINION" Incorrect Statement: "The Fugitive is a 1/10 movie" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0106977/ Fact: The Fugitive is a great movie as stated by most people. I heard this statement yesterday from a poster on this forum. Correct Statement: "I did not think the Fugitive was that great of a movie IN MY OPINION" Being a graduate in a science field, it is well practiced to be objective, even in opinions. In a sense, good reviewers (they are out there), even if they do not like a certain product, will still step back and look at the broad scope of it, and give an UNBIASED review. For instance, in my opinion, I HATE Manhunt. I could give you definitive reasons for not liking manhunt, but I don't feel that anyone here cares. However, I would not go around spouting off that it's a 1/10 game. Even though I hate it, I can stand back objectively, and take in the good qualities of the game, and give it a fair review and rating. Many people suffer from the ceiling and floor effects. I can explain these terms in more detail if requested. Basically, a floor effect is rating a movie a 1/10. A ceiling effect is rating a movie a 10/10. We are all guilty of doing this. A prime example is me rating Army of Darkness a 10/10. We all know, that it is no "Braveheart", or "Patton". But I've watched that movie more times than I can count, and it's an instant cult classic for me. I simply can never get enough of it. My 10 rating likely comes from the ceiling effect, in which I am not scaling my review properly. Either way, in my opinion, its a favored classic for me, and I don't think it could be made any better than it was. The point I'm making is to be objective, unbiased, and fair with your criticism. Many people gripe about good movies, and good theater setups from members on here. I see members get a 1/10 on their theater setup, even though thats completely false. The more in-check your opinion is to reality, the more merit it contains. Give however much criticism as you want, but scale is proportionally, honestly, and realistically. The first Matrix was great. Wanted it on Blu-ray, didn't want to buy the set, so I waited. Then I picked up the first Matrix in Taipei for about 30 US$. Great deal fo me, because again I really didn't want the set. The set is great for fans, just not for me.
I really couldn't get into the 2nd and 3rd, the fight scenes went on too long. The first one was so new and so cool, never been seen before stuff, so awesome. Sequels don't usually outdo the original, with a few exceptions Godfather 2 and Empire Strikes Back. If you like he Matrix 2 better, oh well, that's okay. |
