i bought it the day it came out and just upgraded my sound system. it sounds crappy, quite frankly. very soft, explosions are tame, etc. even my Sorority Row track is louder than this...
i rented it on netflix and the disc art is different, but the sound still is very tame. it's at -10 on my receiver and getting clear dialogue, but special effects are some of the softest i've heard on a blu-ray. is there something wrong with my player? receiver? disc? it's really loud with other movies such as sorority row, transformers, etc. but with this it's very tame...please help?? also, what's the difference between the two discs? the one i have is darker blue with white text. the one from netflix is lighter blue with silver (the disc underneath the art) font. please respond asap. |

yes. i heard there was a defect with the first copies of iron man sent, so i rented it on netflix to see if maybe there was a difference between the discs. they look different and the scene selection is a different layout. the blu-ray reviewer on here gave the sound 5/5.....why does it sound like 2/5? the bass is decent, but the effects are very soft. what's wrong here?? when iron man was being tested at best buy it was LOUD! why isn't it like that at all at my home? it's with the same receiver and speakers used in the store and mine sounds like crap. everything is softened while every other movie i put in is loud.

The disc that had problems where grey in color. I believe very few of those got out so you should be fine with the disc you have since it's blue.
The only thing I can think of that might be giving you problems is that since Iron Man has a Dolby TrueHD encode that your new receiver may be affecting the sound if DRC is enabled. DRC only affects Dolby Digital audio as far as I know. It limits the range of sound and could be your problem. Look at your receivers manual and make sure it's set to OFF. Other than that I wouldn't have any ideas. Good Luck. |

Even without it, it's not the best audio track I've ever heard, but when I first watched it (not knowing about this) I freaked out - I thought something was wrong with my equipment. Disable DRC right away, it's much better. |

i'm trying to do it now, but does this mean I have to disable it everytime i watch iron man?
right now i have these settings: dynamic volume: off dynamic EQ: on multEQ: Audyssey are these settings good? i can't turn it up to my usual level right now as others will yell at me for it being too loud if it worked haha. Last edited by blu_fan; 04-03-2010 at 03:15 PM. |

You should always have DRC turned off, not just for Iron Man. It hinders any movie with a Dolby Digital audio track. Once you dissable it you should always leave it off. It's not something you want enabled if you wish to hear the best sound possible.
What is your reciever (model and brand)? Check in the manual and see how to turn DRC to off. Usually it's set to Auto by default. |

p44 of the 1910 manual. DRC is set to Auto by default. Change it to Off. Iron Man was authored differently than nearly all other discs in this regard. When the processor has DRC set to Auto, Iron Man uses dynamic range compression. No other disc is known to do that, although there are likely a few others floating around.
