I am looking into getting a Front projector in the $2000.00 range. I can get either of these two online within $100.00 of each other. I was looking for some input from people that have either of these or can recommend one. I am new to front projection and am going off of reviews. My father in law currently owns the Epson 1080UB and it looks like these may have better contrast given his is a year old now.
Thanks. |

I haven't seen anything on the new epson, but if it's anything like the 1080ub than I would suggest that one over the Mitsu. Both projectors should be able to handle a screen of that size give some lighting control.
Generally speaking the Epson(using the 1080ub for comparison) has better black level performance than the mitsu, but the mitsu is sharper. Both are very good in terms of color after calibration. The epson should be more flexible in terms of placement than the mitsu. Check out sites like projectorcentral.com or projectorreviews.com |

I was looking at the flexability between the two as far as setup. I have up to 20 feet between the wall I am throwing it at and the projector so I do not think it will be a problem. I was leaning towards the Epson given the brightness and Contrast. I googled the Epson and found a review through http://www.projector.com/reviews/eps...cinema6100.php

I am still in the planning/research stage and will continue to look at reviews and specs. I will not be looking into a purchase until the begining of 2009. I appreciate the help.
Also, This is going into a basement with complete light control but I still like a bright image so I am thinking I need at least 1200+ lumens. If I am wrong let me know as I said this is new to me. |
