This is good advise.

djdon, you have a good set capable of displaying a good picture. For now you may want to go into the setup options and choose something like "movie" mode. Typically LCD's are configured super hot meaning they look good at the store but when you bring them home they look like crap. Sony LCD's are notorious for this problem. Adjusting the TV to "standard" or "movie" will tone down the settings and you will be able to get it in the ball park. You may want to get it professionally calibrated too.

Definitely read the information in the URL. That's some good stuff.

Here is the user manual to your LCD: http://us.lge.com/download/product/f...ser_Manual.pdf

Go to page 28 and find Picture Modes. I bet your LCD is set to VIVID which is the source of your problems. Try selecting Real Cinema and test. This is the area where you will make adjustments. There are calibration disks available to help adjust these settings if you want to calibrate it yourself: (http://www.videoessentials.com/DVE_HDBasics.php)

Also try selecting Standard to determine if watching TV looks better.

Try selecting to Standard or adjust the brightness just a little in Cinema. By the way, when the set is calibrated properly it will look dark compared to Vivid (torch mode).

It's amazing what a lit bit of tweaking to your settings can do for you. I just learned how to adjust my TV and I got a bit of a better pic as well from my TV. And I have a plazma.
