How do the blu-ray.com reviewers get chosen? Do they get paid?
What if we wanted to recommend/request that maybe a particular member could become a reviewer? Like say if there was a member/members who posted in the insiders threads who knew all there is to know about the film transfer process and could be certain whether a particular title was transferred correctly - or if not exactly what was wrong with the transfer, is there any chance we could recommend them and hopefully say be able to ask if they could become a reviewer at blu-ray.com? Even if they could just watch the first 5-10 mins of Blu-ray titles to see what the transfer was like and whether it had been transferred correctly? |

This would be in addition to - not instead of the other reviews. The point was this review would just be a technical review of how good or not the transfer was and what any problems were with the transfer, which you could probably tell within the first 10 minutes or so. It's unlikely - though I suppose it can sometimes happen that the transfer quality could change dramatically more than 10 minutes into the film (like the framing issues on one of the POTC films). If I want a review of the story - if I didn't already know the story, I could read one of the other reviews. I don't mind if the technical reviewer watches more than that - or the whole thing - in fact that would be even better, but it might mean they wouldn't have time to review as many discs. The point would be to have a concise review of a particular film's technical aspects (transfer quality/errors) by someone who knows all there is to know about film transfers.

I think the reviewers are doing a great job and they are pumping out those reviews like crazy.
If they haven't reviewed it they will soon enough and there are more that enough options to find advice / opinions here in the forums. |
