Talking Got my new speakers today! *Update*

Ok, so this is what happened: my wife and I recently moved from our old appartment into our new house and of course this was my chance to switch from my bookshelf speakers to a new pair of floorstanding speakers

We can't do surround in the living room (she'd kill me if I try ) so I'm perfectly content with my stereo setup. I'll post some more pics of the complete setup once we get everything unpacked.

Today I went to pick up the new speakers, Wharfedale Diamond 9.5 and tomorrow (hopefully) the new amplifier will be delivered (a Yamaha A-S700)

Here are the links to the Wharfedale and Yamaha site:

Speakers: http://www.wharfedale.co.uk/model.php?model_id=15

Amp: http://www.yamaha-hifi.com/index.php...ry=BE&idcat1=2

(very excited about the amp btw)

And now for some pictures of my new speakers
(I'll post more pics in the coming days)

The build quality on these things is awesome. They're heavy as hell!
I can't wait to hear these things once my new amp get's here.

Feel free to comment!

Nice. Those look great. I am sure you will enjoy them.

I hope to upgrade my speakers to something decent in the future, but I just upgraded my dead subwoofer to a Polk (low end for Polk), but I still love it!
I am sure I would not appreciate the sound quality from these as much as others around here do.

Going to have to let me know what you think of these, there's a used pair exactly the same on Canuckaudiomart.com for 475.00 CAD I've been eyeballing.

First Update!

I think it's my lucky day because when I got out of bed this morning the delivery guy had just rang the doorbell with my new amp!

The box was so heavy! This thing weighs a LOT! So I got to the unpacking (pictures below) and like the speakers, the build quality is fantastic, this thing would even survive a nuclear strike!

Then I started to get things set up, cut some speaker wire, tried to muffle away all the cables... etc. you guys now the deal

Pictures of the setup below:

Component List:

TV: Samsung LN40A656
DVD/CD player: Panasonic DMR-EH55
Amp: Yamaha A-S700
Speakers: Wharfedale Diamond 9.5

My wife's godchild has a condition affecting his hips and has to stay in bed for the coming 3 months immobilzed, so we gave him our PS3 to pass the time. But I will be getting a panasonic BD-35 soon, until then it's DVD and CD playback only.

Things to be added soon:

a good cd player (preferably the yamaha model that accompanies the amp, here's the link: http://www.yamaha-hifi.com/index.php...ry=BE&idcat1=2)

a new turntable as my dad took my old one... in a couple of months maybe...

Now for the sound, I'm not going to post a definitive review of the speakers yet as I want to give them some break in time, but from what I've already heard: the first thing that caught my attention was their "presence" in the room, they really have the ability to fill up the room with crisp, detailed and bass rich sound and they sound so nice and warm. Final review of the amp and the speakers in a few days when I've gotten the chance to listen more...

But thanks to everyone for the kind words (and yes in the some of the pictures the equipment hadn't been wired yet )

*Small Update*

My wife got me a Sennheiser HD 595 headphone as a new year present! Yippee kay yay!

Trying to decide what CD's to do the review with...
Help me out here fellas! Here's what I have so far:

Joe Jackson - Night and Day II
Miles Davis - Birth Of The Cool
Steve Lukather - Candyman

the rest... well I don't know yet... need your help!
Maybe a couple of classical recordings?
