Sorry I couldn't do five..... Their are way to many in one of my favorite Genres.

All Quiet on the Western Front (The 1930's Verison) Amazing what they did for this movie even back in the day.
Band of Brothers (10 hours of just epic war)
Come and See (Russian Movie, damn the Russians had it bad in WWII.)
Saving Private Ryan (Needless to say)
Tae Guk Gi - The Brotherhood of War (Korean Saving Private Ryan)
Stalingrad ( Shows WWII From German perspective)
Enemy At the Gates (I don't know why it doesn't get credit, I thought it was great)
Savior (Bosnian War, its decent)
Cold Mountain (Bad Accents, but a great Civil War movie that keeps my Attention)
Gallipoli (WWI, Shows how stupid WWI Tactics were)
Empire of the Sun ( Steven Speilberg and Christian Bale, plus its epic from a childs view)
A Very Long engagement(French, it captures WWI better then most)
Hamburger Hill- (Brutal, need nothing else to say)
Platoon (Another needless)
Hotel Rwanda (African War)
Downfall
Legends of the Fall (Not really a war movie, but love the scene)
Schindler's List (Not Really a War Film, but shows a side of war)
Apocalypse Now (Ummm Ya)
The Big Red One
Full Metal Jacket (If it wasnt for the first half I would hate this movie)
Saints and Soldiers (Shows how to make a War film on a Budget)
Bullet in the Head (John Woo, This is so much better then that crappy Windtalkers, its not about war so much as the people stuck in it)
Letters of Iwo Jima (Forgot this one, but Havent seen a film that showed this side that well before)

Glad this version of the film is mentioned, because even though the extra footage makes an already long film much longer, it adds amazing dimension to the story.

Hopefully it will come out on Blu soon enough (with the Redux version), as I lent my DVD of this to a buddy months ago and may need to ask for it back.

1. Black Hawk Down
2. The Pianist
3. Saving Private Ryan

The Killing Fields - an amazing film that I hope will get the Bu-ray treatment very soon.

Apocalypse Now - this film is sooooo different from anything that is truly has no competition.

Bridge On The River Kwai - a bit campy at times by today's standards, it is still a masterpeice in filmmaking.

Saving Private Ryan - a cinematic joy to watch and maybe one of the best ensemble casting showpieces.

The Great Escape - a true classic and my favourite Steve McQueen flick.

Those are my 5 choices.

John
